How To Look More Feminine?

Although I do look kind of feminine compared to other 15-year old boys (I’m smaller, girly hair ect) I want to take it a little step further.

I suppose the obvious answer would be Female Hormone Tablets, but i think I’m right when I say that's not a good idea for someone just in my situation, and i'm pretty set on not taking them.

But i do want to look more feminine, does anybody have any tips? I hate to 'over do it' when crossdressing, I just to look like any other 15 year old girl.

Any advice? :)

:o NO NO NO - only use hormones if recommended by a therapist and then only if monitored by a physician.

They can really make you sick, even destroy your liver and hurt your circulation system. And at age 15? Usually if you are diagnosed as a true gender dysphoric person the treatment is to give you blockers so as to keep you pre-puberty or at least halt you where you are, untill you can be evaluated and become mature enough to begin trans-gender treatment.

If you want to look more feminine - and I have no idea of your size now - look at all the girls around you - those of about your height and build. Look at the ones who are really girly looking. Estimate how much they weigh and get to that size and stay there. Also, at your age your hair is probably 50% of how to look girly. Wear it as close to what is in style for the girls.

The rest is probably attitude.

If you want to seem feminine, start acting and thinking like a girl. Watch how they talk, how they move, how they sit, how they motion with their hands, how they hold themseves as they stand still... all that.

The Mall is a good place to watch for that stuff. Just don't look like a stalker or anything.

And watch your mom and your sisters everyday. They are female and therefore good natural teachers.

Finally - dressing? That's up to you. Be appropriate for your age and the styles - and the weather. And when buying your guy clothes, avoid super guy stuff and have your mom let you pick out nice gender neutral stuff. Its hard to look girly in a fatigue jacket and boots.

Hope this helps - to be girly - be a girl in your mind.

Thx for the advice :) and I wasn't going to use hormones (it was one of those passing 'what if' thoughts) i know how serious they can be. I was just looking for more practical methods.

My friends (the ones I'm "out" to) are helping me with this now. It doesn't hurt that, basically, I've always kinda thought of myself as non-macho.

Great points on the "attitude" thingie. Also, look at posture. Pay very close attention to posture -- the way you hold yourself, gesture, getting into and out of a car or a seat, the way you cross your legs or even the way you sit with your legs together... the way you smile.... It takes a TON of practice. Apparently, that's one of the reasons the therapists want us to take a whole BUNCH of time living in the persona of a girl -- the way you carry yourself is something you have to learn over time.

Hi Jennifer...hair is a great place to start...use a little rinse out color and some styling goop...or a curling iron these are quickly reversible and can make a dramatic difference. Try using a little mascara on your eyes...and a VERY light lip tint. Bangle braclets and anklets are cool too and make a tinkling sound thats pleasant. Extra points if the anklet has a bell on it...it helps angels get their wings :D when it sounds. 'Tude is where it all meets and comes together though...you could be scruffy and wearing a burlap bag and still silently scream 'GIRL' with the right 'tude (probably have more than a few young fellas come to the rescue be forewarned). For me...now try to contain your giggles...it was the moustache that came off 010109...40+ years trying to grow one and ZIP gone in 60 seconds. It now seems like everyone is wondering why I ever had the silly thing in the first place, so I'm seeing that change is good even for us older fogies...so in closing..erm...experiment a little just be sure it's not indelible (learn from MY mistakes there LOL) or painful and most of all have FUN as there's nothing more attractive than a smile and the sound of laughter. Hugs, Kelly Ann

Oh Kelly Ann - I can just see you

A delicate gold anklet is the first thing I bought after starting transition. I will NEVER take it off. Its my special badge of courage for starting my journey. And its so beautifully feminine. But no bell...

Oh the bell - the bell - oh my - angels flying around you my dear - I can just see it

Jennifer...

There's some really wonderful ideas here coming from people who know! Yep, attitude gets you way ahead of the curve...and true...the little things can feed your attitude...a nice necklace worn under your shirt all the time (I do that)..yes, Hon, its the little things that help, but 'tude is the most important!

Oh, Kelly Ann...Lizzy!!!!!

I never thought of that! What a wonderful idea...an anklet...oh my...

Well, that does it! I MUST have one! There's a snowstorm going on in Ohio right now, but, as soon as it's good and daylight I'm going to bundle up and go get one!! A girl's gotta have what a girl's gotta have, right?

And the bell....we need as many angels as we can get...more than just you two angels..

Now...where did I put those snowshoes.....?

Excited Donna Jean

I'm really just starting out now, too, although I've got great support at home. It's really difficult to do this unless you've got your family's support.

A couple of tips, which I'm just figuring out myself. First, change your underwear. Quit wearing "boy undies" and go with girl stuff, but keep it simple -- just some cute bikini panties for starters. That's simple, and you'll be amazed at how different it feels. That starts changing your attitude immediately. Second, grow your hair longer. No one really notices when a boy has longer hair, and then you can slowly start doing more girly things with it. Once your hair gets longer, get your ears pierced. Start out with a pair of studs, then when you're in a safe place, around safe people, switch to a pair of simple gold hoops.

Go easy on the makeup. Instead of diving straight into makeup, work on your complexion at night, with the right acne medicine, cleansers, and moisturizer. If you have a friend-girl you can "out' to, then get her advise on what SHE does. Once you get your complexion in shape, then a very simple lipgloss -- don't go radical with bright red, but use something that just subtly changes your lip color.

Hugs!

Gee!

I don't know how I missed this one - my specialty! :D

Liz has already told you about observing in the mall - be sure to observe in particular girls your age and approximate build. There is no point in my studying a teenage girl who is 5' 2" and about 25 pounds!

I'm looking at the elderly overweight woman who are taller than anyone else around! :P

The walk is very important and either ignored or over done so here comes Sally's system for a subtle sexy sway!

When you stand looking in a full length mirror - most men stand with their feet at about shoulder width and the toes pointing outward - girls have the feet a little closer to gether and the toes point straight or slightly inward - that's important! When men walk they keep their feet at shoulder width and the toes face out - women put one foot in front of the other with the toes pointed slightly inward - why? Because women's knees are shaped a little different and the angle of the hips are slightly different and thier joints are looser (hormones will help that) - the reason that you want to immulate this walk is to help you pass and to get that nice hip sway - not to much! Also when wearing heels this keeps your weight centered over your shoes and doesn't make your ankles wobble!

Hope that helps,

Sally

happy trans birthday! I can't speak personally on the subject, but I hope hormones bring you the changes you're looking for <3

That’s super healthy, to see that something that becomes common has less effect on you and that you are able to decipher these feelings.   Sadly, this trend tends to only deaden good feelings as we tend not to let bad feelings attenuate the same way.   I have noticed less euphoria, but still feel the dysphorias that I have. Sometimes the good sneaks in and reminds me, but often time it’s just me seeing myself in the mirror and being comfortable about what I see when embracing my realized self. I may not get the same buzz I once did, but I don’t feel incongruous when looking at a more “drab” reflection.    Wishing you strength, you are amazing!

Congratulations! and Happy Trans Birthday @LittleSam! That is such a BIG milestone.  I can still remember walking out of my clinic with my first HRT presciption.  I was on Cloud-9.  Wishing you all the best in the start of your new Journey!

maebe thank you I try to be. I thank God for blessings, try to share them, beg forgiveness for my shortcomings n vow to try to do better...2 priests have said no, God doesn't condemn you just for being trans...but apparently evangelicals do   I shall vtry dear thank you
    • MaeBe
Meet him at the being good to others part of Christianity. At the heart of it, there are excellent tenets of the faith. Those that condemn are judging, Jesus would have us be selfless; stone casting and all that. Are you a good person? Are you putting good into the world? If your gender is an issue for God, let God judge. In the mortal realm, let your actions be heard.

and just fi sweeten it..I'm catholic n he hasn't been for years..he's evangelical..whatever that is

Let’s stick to cite-able fact. Most of my posts have been directly in relation to LGBTQ+ rights as it pertains to P2025 and I have drawn direct links between people, their quotes, and their agenda. I have made reference to the cronyism that P2025 would entail as well, by gutting, not cutting, broad swathes of government and replacing it with “conservative warriors” (I can get you the direct quote, but rest assured it’s a quote). All this does is constantly force the cogs to be refitted, not their movement. To say that agencies have directly defied a President is a bit much, the EPA did what Trump told them to do at the direct harm to the environment, the department of agriculture did the same by enacting the administrations forced move to KC which decimated the USDA.      How about Betsy DeVoss for Education? Or Bannon for anything? What about the revolving Chief of Staff position that Trump couldn’t stay filled? Or the Postmaster General, who did much to make the USPS worse?   Let’s not mix politics with racism, sexism, or any other ism. Because Trump made mainly white, male, appointments—many of them not, arguably, people fit for service—or unwilling to commit to term. I can argue this because, again, he’s up for election and will do what he did before (and more of the same, his words).   Please delineate how the selected diversity appointments have negatively affected the US, other than being black, women, or queer? Representation matters and America benefits when its people are inspired and empowered.

When I first started figuring things out, I got a lot more euphoria. Every time a friend would use he/they pronouns for me, I'd get this bubbly feeling, and seeing myself look masculine made me really happy. Dysphoric state felt more normal, so I guess I noticed the pain it caused me less.   Now, it's more just that my pronouns and such things feel natural, and dysphoria is a lot stronger -- I know what's natural, so experiencing the opposite is more jarring than everything. The problem is, most of my natural experiences are from friends, and I rarely get properly gendered by strangers, much less by my family. I've found myself unable to bind in months due to aches, colds,, and not wanting to risk damage.    It partially makes me want to go back to the beginning of my journey, because at least then I got full euphoria. I'm pretty sure it'll be like this until I medically transition, or at the very least get top surgery (you know all those trans dudes online with tiny chests? Not me, unfortunately). It's a bit depressing, but at least I know that, eventually, there's a way out of this.

Major mood, right here ^^^    I've listened to Lumineers to a long time (a major portion of it by osmosis via my mom), so that is almost painfully relatable

As for getting a button-up/formal pants suit, you can try to talk to her more -- Cis women in tuxes have worn tuxes in recent years, after all, (for example, Zendaya) so it can still be a relatively safe topic. For jumpsuits, I'd recommend going with a simple one with a blazer, if you can -- this'll make it look overall more masculine. There's a lot of good brands, but going for one without a lot of extra glitz on it will make it look less feminine under a blazer. I don't know many specific brands though since I usually just get my stuff from chain stores, sorry :<   When it comes to your hair, if you can't cut it, you can look up tutorials on fluffing it up instead. If you can pull it off, it can look a lot shorter and more androgynous instead!
