A little about my style

I am posting this because I am aware of a few things about my self that might put others off. So this might be a little different. I am placing this in the Mormon forums because I am very passionate about the subject matter and thus some of my personality might come through a bit stronger.

A few things I want to make clear:

1. I do not hate the church nor it's members.

2. What I present in these forums are as balanced and as fair as I can get.

3. I am not out to offend.

I have spent over 30 years the LDS faith and I know it inside and out. It is my culture. I know precisely how it feels to be a Mormon-Trans and I know what barriers are there that prevent us from moving forward within the church.

My writing style can be seen as very abrupt and pithy. I have never been one for flowery hugs and smile emotes. I try to use them when it fits and I just do not emote something I do not genuinely feel. To me this is a serious subject matter where many young and older Mormon-Trans lives are at stake. When I respond to a post I never respond in a way that means I HATE or DISLIKE the poster. However I may strongly disagree with what some one has written.

Some may argue (especially those who are outside the church) that this church is not unique and I would defend that it is a unique and at times terrifying religion to be part of and creates mental pain that can compound feelings built on GID that other Mormons can relate too.

I hope that helps some reading this section understand my communication style.

I can agree, thank you. Your story is an interesting one, and I'm happy that we can share our experiences with each other.

I respect and enjoy reading your posts. Through you, the real truth is spoken about Mormonism and that's what people need and want to hear. Mostly people only know that the Mormons are in Salt Lake City and they have a beautiful choir. They have not had any access to the inside real deal workings of the Church. Thank you for being you.

As a non-Mormon Christian who has had dealings with the LDS Church and its members for many years, and a person who has acquainted themself with the study of how the Orthodox, Roman, and Protestant Christologies came into being, I agree with Nicole that they cannot be used to gauge the Mormon Church. The Mormon Church embraces ideas of discipline, and of beliefs that the other three Christologies abandoned centuries ago and no longer incorporate in their beliefs. We other Christians are never taught these things and they will not make sense to us.

You hit the bullseye. In fact the Mormon church for a long time bragged internally about the differences. And now the church is downplaying those differences at times. In fact the Mormon church claims that what goes on in the temple is ancient and it is the only one that still practices those rites. (The funny thing about is...it was ripped off from the Masonic Rituals but they ignore that fact.)

One of the things that faces Mormon Youth who are trans is they really don't know what Mommy and Daddy are doing in the temple and how that impacts them when coming out to them and telling them they are trans. Mommy and Daddy are sworn to oath to NEVER discuss what goes on in the temple with any one outside the temple. Including their children. What they do in the temple colors their judgement that can blind side the child coming out.
