looking at jewelry

I realized

I’m looking at jewelry

it got hot all of a sudden

no one saw me

it’s okay

I told myself

after all

I’m an artist

It was the first time I saw my reflection

I remember

when I was five

watching my mom

put her makeup on

can I wear some too?

she was surprised

then

she smiled

quite whispers of stars

Pass through great distance

from near and from far

to smile down upon you

for just who you are

particulate matter and dust

you might never see

gather together to make Naomi

I always enjoy your poems.

I'm apparently the only author here who can't write poetry.

I sat down with intent to write

but try,try,try as I might

the muse while all around

fail to utter a single sound

so now I sit and stare amazed

unable to form a simple phrase

how can it be so incredibly hard

to immulate the immortal Bard

if a hat I had to you I'd surely tip

but now my hot coco I'll gladly sip

I'll leave the poetry to both of you

and know that prose will have to do.

Dust

we are all

motes

floating

in someone else’s

rec. room

most of us

are dead skin

or lost eyelashes

but some

come from discarded insect wings

so we think

we can fly

show me that heart

pumping oxidizing fluid

all through

your fragile joints

show me that soul

too soft

for this hard world

it leaves you frozen

afraid

asleep

while all of Oz

burns

but ahhh!

the dreams

oh what the heck 2 more

i'm just copying and pasting anyway

I blew a candle out

and left the room

when I came back

there was a mosquito

drawn

by my breath

to molten wax

frozen

in it’s first drink

My niece was so excited to see a spider

look Mama a spider!

then Mama squashed it

she pouted for two days

Now

she’s helping me clean

and there are two spiders

I point to one

and ask

should we put it outside

she squashes it

twists it deep into the carpet

I don’t tell her

about the other one

house demolished

years ago

nobody told

the tulips
