I'm not posting this as a "look what I did" just more of a hopeful inspiration thread to others that can actually see that you can quit things that seem impossible.

Anyway I had a major Heroin Addiction for the good part of 2 years, Alot of people will say that heroin is one drug that you can't quit. Its not true, although it was very difficult, Today, Feburary 7th marks my 11th year clean. I know statisticly, I am in a very low percentile of people who were able to quit this drug, but I am here now as proof that it can be done.

I can also offer this, if anyone is fighting addiction, you can do it, no matter how hard it seems, it is possible. As long as you have the will power to do it and stay strong, anything is possible

This is truely my goal in sharing this, I know how hard it is becasue I've been though it personally. I had no support with getting clean like that, I didn't go to a rehab, no medication no nothing, I quit cold turkey and it was one of the hardest things I ever did in my life. I had no support, and I am more than willing to offer support to anyone that wants to get over an addiction.

It does get easier, it never fully goes away though, even 11 years later it still lingers in the back of my head, almost a whisper but still there.

Congratulations Christina! You have a right to be very proud of your accomplishment as well as serving as an inspiration to others.

Tamar. I took amphetamines by prescriptions for 18 years and quit. Decades ago. They are considered pretty addictive and I do sometimes slip into bad habits with substitutes like caffeine even. I slide from normal use to dependence on an unhealthy level but have learned to recognize it and pull back. i do hear that whisper Chrstina talks about but it really plays no part in my life either. I think people can accomplish anything they decide to do that is within the laws of physics. There are many people out there who are willing to help with an addiction. And I believe any addiction diminishes your life in the end so it's worth overcoming. But if it is a prescription please see your Dr for advise before stopping because some substances can have devastating effects if withdrawal is not carefully medically managed.

Thank you Christina! You are inspirational. I was certainly powerless over alcohol. I still am am need to maintain the knowledge that one drink will possibly kill me at this point. I'd be off to the races. Instead my 12st program really has helped me to do more than be sober. I have a life way beyond what i thought possible.
