Question about my razor.

Hi, recently on christmas, I got a razor and a pack of razor heads for it, and finally shaved my legs. It was good the first time, but the next time, it took forever to shave my legs, it wouldn't cut, so I thought the head was bad, and decided to switch. As I was switching, I noticed something about the other heads, they have this green bar above the razor. What is the green bar? It really helped a lot. I did in 5 minutes with the new head what would've taken me 35 minutes with the old head. I noticed with my new head, that the green bar had disappeared. Trying to shave with it again took forever. What is the green stuff on my razor, and why does it help everything go much faster?

I could be wrong, but the strip is probably a lotion or lubricant that helps the blade achieve a smoother shave.

Yup. I still use men's razors, since they seem to last longer and cut closer and irritate less (for the same price). Face and legs, though I prefer to use Veet on my legs when I have time.

For the most part, I've been able to continue using the razor for a little while after the lotion wears off. For the hair on my head and face (what's left of it there), I use "bikini zone no more bumps" shave gel. First I go with the growth of the hair, then against it. The gel does an excellent job as a lubricant, and I get a very close shave.

The strip is normally something like aloe Vera which helps with shaving . Once that is worn off it is pretty rough .

Yup. I still use men's razors, since they seem to last longer and cut closer and irritate less (for the same price). Face and legs, though I prefer to use Veet on my legs when I have time.

I change them out usually way before the white strip shows.. I just know by feel when the blade is dulling. Seems to be more necessary since HRT. I use male razors in certain spots, but its been awhile since Ive used them on my legs. I might go back to trying them since lady razors are strangely not catching hairs the way they used to.

And to go back to the OPs question, the green bar is an indicator and a lubricator. I noticed this when looking at mine the other night. But change it out when the blade starts to feel rougher, nicks aren't fun and can be easily avoided.

Am I correct in presuming based on the posts, that a disposable razor is the best way to go for neck down shaving? I use a double edge razor with edge gel for tough beards or Gilet for tough beards, on my face.It's the only way I can get the hair off without it pulling. Will I have similar problems else where? Any Suggestions on what brand and type is best?

If it is any help, I have been known to completely dull a double edge blade in one shave of my face.

As an addendum, I use a Headblade on my legs and body. It's intended for shaving the head clean while minimizing the chances of nicks and cuts. If used as indicated, with a fresh blade and keeping the rear wheels down against the skin, it almost never cuts my legs or nicks my chest.

Any razor blade made for a man is meant for the face. A womens razor is made for the bodies curves and there is a double headed flexing razor offered by the Dorco company, a worldwide seller from Korea. Their site will sell you a handle and blades that are made for a females use. They are multiblade heads two per razor insert with four blades each, and work VERY well. Oh, and they are around half the price of the big boy companies Shick and Gillette, buy enough and they ship free! I really dig it.I have nothing to do with dorco.com I am merely a satisfied consumer.
