Violence Against Women Act Passes in Full.

In a dramatic turn around the full version of the VAWA has passed and is on the way to the white house to be signed.

This includes the protections put in last year for LGBT and native american women.

First big surprise I have seen from the republicans in several years. Maybe they are finally getting the message.

Political realities finally brought some of them to their senses. They could not afford to go into the mid-term elections with another no vote on this. Whatever the reason, its great news.

With the modernised act passing I will mention that my local congressman voted against it at 11:42 am. Not surprising unfortunately. With a little luck my new local congressman won't get a big head and attempt to become a senator like Akin did. I grow weary of him and the new districting already.

Frankly, I think it is HIGHLY disturbing to imagine that ANYONE running our government could care less that certain groups of people could get abused & left out like this. I'm glad that the full thing ultimately passed - the alternative would have seriously seen me considering a quick move to Canada.

I think the republicans are realizing that enough people to swing an election are actually paying attention to the GOP's actions instead of just blaming Obama for anything that goes wrong (which is really their strategy at this point... derail the country and hope the voters will blame the democrats).
