Those movie are so rare. I like the movie Normal also.

There are tons of CD and Drag movies, but most leave me feeling cheated. We TS are so exploited sometimes. I am not a she-male or a Transgender or any of the freaks that are always being promoted on the porn sites. Shame on them and a POX on their house - double POX - triple POX.

Hummmm. some real feelings there Lizzy

I have been so disappointed when I try to watch a movie about transsexuals, I am trying to get a perspective on how to continue after transitioning and how normal a life can I achieve. They are interested in selling tickets or advertising and end up most of the time making me turn it off and wonder if there can actually be a 'normal' life for me. I would love to see something about someone who is actually making it work, but the flambouant Drag Queens and the suicidal Drug addicts make 'much better' viewing.

If only Frank Capra had made a movie about transsexuals, "It's a Wonderful Transitioning Life", how much better people would understand us and care about us rather than just trying to ignore us.

Sorry, but today's gritty, realistic movies from the mid 80s on have done nothing to make me want to go to a new film, I'm stuck in the past where the heroes weren't so flawed!

Its coming. I KNOW it is. There are too many artistic/filmmaker types on this site for me to imagine "the" movie is not coming. (That's your cue artistic/filmmaker types....get crackin.)

If you need any bad illustrations for the credits just check out my avatar! :o

OK, maybe a soundtrack - I am a jazz musician and no one here has ever heard me play so as far as you know - a good one! :P

Sorry for blowing my own horn, but the music store insisted that I pay for it.

Love ya,

The other things you touch on make my skin crawl..and put all Trans people in a bad light....

There was an Old episode of Law & Order SVU that addressed the transgendered issue very appropriately I thought...even though the end teared me up pretty bad. Young man falls for demure young woman...young man loses girl, young man finds out why he lost his sweetie and accepts her need to transition and wants to help her because...he...completely loves HER. Girl has family issues and goes to jail...gets beat up...SVU oficers try to get her into the female jail because she's IN THE WRONG PLACE...the courts ignore the danger...the young woman gets beat to death the next time, the young man has a broken heart...the SVU officers are outraged, Kelly Ann carried a box of tissues everywhere for a while...probably based on a real story and real tears besides my own

There was also a very good handeling of the transsexual issues on "Without a Trace", the episode name was "Transitions". A young woman (young to me, mid thiries) disappears the day before she was to sing a solo with the church choir. Searching through her past they find a series of very different looking ID photos and eeventual discover that she is a MTF transsexual, one of the people interogated is her FTM friend. Eventual they trace her to her ex-wife's house where she had gone to try to visit her children. The new husband comes in and drags her out. They find her in an SUV pushed off the road, they get her to the hospital and her ex, is taking the children to see her at the end. That one brought a tear or two.

Love ya,

Sally

Most of the transgendered movies I've seen were okay or good but didn't quite really nail it. I felt kind of good watching it, but I also felt like there were some things lacking. But with limited exposure, I'll take what I can get I guess.

If I remember, Normal was -really- good, but I couldn't totally relate since she was like 20 years older than I was at the time. Soldier's Girl was pretty good as well. Boys Don't Cry was sad. TransAmerica was kinda "meh".

..and don't get me started on Victor/Victoria, Just One of the Guys, She's the Man, Ladybugs, Mrs. Doubtfire.. and definatly don't get me started about the movie Sorority Boys!

I just realized that no one has mentioned "The Crying Game", was it that easy to forget?

Sally

I couldn't relate to the crying game for some reason, possibly because of all the violence. I also thought the transsexual angle seemed to be played too much for its shock value, but what impressed me is the willingness of the lead to keep his love alive even after the discovery of his lovers true nature. In spite of all that the TS person, beautiful by the way, played the part too 'crossdresser' for my taste.

This may not be exactly what you had in mind, but there's a girl named Ashley who has a wonderful channel at Youtube tracing her transition. You have to follow from the first to the most recent to get her whole story -- plan to devote a couple of hours to it.

For me, definitely the size thing.  I'm 5'4" on a good day, and 100lbs.  I can pass as a teenage boy, but never for my real mid-30s age.  And since my husband looks older than his age, I'm often assumed to be his kid.  Or folks think there's something illegal going on.      Also, my lack of the typical aggressive "masculine" demeanor.  I don't really desire the typical masculine social role, nor could I do it even if I tried really hard.  I'm usually quiet and kind of timid.

I am sorry for your struggles. I cannot empathize, but I can surely sympathize. I wish only the best for you!

No, they are the only provider of services I need an my area. 😑

My size. A lot of guys aren't 5'3" at seventeen. My hands. It's a less noticeable one, but my hands are very "feminine"? If you know what I mean. My voice. Very high-pitched. I don't just sound like a female, I sound like a little girl sometimes My chest. I've had to stop binding due to frequent aches doing so, and it's not nearly small enough to just cover with baggy clothes My family. They still call me she/her, so that's an automatic out. My anxiety. I might be able to pass better if I had the courage to correct people. Instead, I'm too scared to speak up, so I find it hard. My lack of men's clothes.   Anyone else have these problems, or other ones?

From what I have read and heard most people are so.busy with their everyday lives and either looking at their phones or in a hurry to notice you out and about.

This exactly ^^^   I actually really liked games where I was required to play a male character. It felt homey, in a way.

I can relate.  I have always played a female character when given the opportunity. Not really and reason except I just alway pick them since I was young

Yes, our little town is having its 3rd annual Pridefest. I've volunteered the first two years  from setup to tear down (though I do take an hour off to eat and drink in the middle).     Then I attend a bigger one a couple towns over that has had some decent entertainment from some semi-famous folks (Laura Benanti, Patrick Wilson, Carmen Carrera, Judy Gold, etc).    This year I made sure to ask off of (weekend) shifts to attend a 3rd one where a group I'm in is in the parade.

Hi Vicky, I agree with you, so far since the time I've been under the new treating doctor's care, she prescribed me medication, but it's for children lol  luckily  my pharmacy warned me from a phone call not to take the medication.

Welcome to the party, M.A.     Sounds chaotic haha, I can confidently say that living with only two children the same age is stressful enough, much less three!
