E3000 Notes for the curious

A general introduction to hair removal can be read at Hair Facts.

The average male face has up to 30,000 individual beard follicles. Not all beard follicles are active at the same time.

Your electrologist or laser specialist is using various techniques to remove these hair follicles permenantly, thus it is going to take some time as different hairs become active, and thus vulnerable, each on their own schedules. Plus there is the factor of "kill rate" based on the skill of your electrologist. A good electrologist will have a high kill rate otherwise the hair grows back anyway and has to be treated yet again.

Once my financial picture changes somewhat, I am seriously going to consider switching to E3000 in Dallas. That's a 4 hour drive from Houston but I could take a few days off every 8 weeks for such and that's their recommended spacing time between sessions. E3000 will inject painkillers and put two full time technicians on you for a full day. They say that most MTFs have complete facial clearing after 70-90 hours at E3000. If you are within driving distance of Dallas, Texas, or can afford to fly in there, this may be an option for facial hair removal for you to consider.

I found the following information elsewhere to give people a sample cost breakdown. As always, your costs will vary based on your face, etc. Also, this does not include travel, meals, lodging, etc. These numbers were for a specific individual but should serve as a sample of what to expect.

Sample E3000 Costs

Between each session you have to wait 6-8 weeks and grow your facial hair out for 3-4 days before your appointment.

Session #1 - 22.5 Hours - $2,646.50 (Two tech - 1.5 days)

Session #2 - 10.5 Hours - $1,102.50 (Two tech - 1 day)

Session #3 - 14.25 Hours - $1,503.60 (Two tech - 1 day)

Session #4 - 10 Hours - $960.90 (One Tech - 1.25 day)

Session #5 - 7.5 Hours - $619.65 (One Tech - 1)

Session #6 - 9 hours - $1,053.40(One Tech - 1.25 day) - At this stage shadow was gone - still shaved ever day - most people then go to a local electrologist to finish up after round some continue with E3000 with other parts of the body - like the south pole!!!

Session #7 - 5 hours - $557.15 (One Tech - 0.75)

Total 78.75 Hours to Date

As I said, I plan to look into E3000. They also handle the "south pole" electrolysis as well, when it comes time for that.

Your looking good these days Liz,

If the average electrologist removes one hair every 15 seconds that 240 hairs an hour. 30,000 hairs divided by 240 equals 125 hours. I'm doing 2 hours a week these days and the face was beginning to look pretty rough and beat up. My lady is taking spring break off this week, thank God she's taking a break, I really needed one.

I counted last week and I believe I'm up to 65 hours more or less. 60 more hours sigghhhh. Last week I was asked if I was willing to talk to a new young transgender. I talked about it all, but couldn't quite bring myself to ruin that first experience with laser or electrolysis. Facial hair, why couldn't we have started HRT before puberty?

Just the thought of all we could avoid sends chills up my spine. Take care and be good Liz.

That assumes a 100% kill rate. Actual kill rates with electrolysis vary from 30%-70% typically so it's even worse than you expect. :)

Thanks for the info Liz, I estimate about 12 -14K $ for my face, somewhere between 150-200 hours is gonna be needed. Like Kathryn I am somewhere in the middle of my facial hair removal project @ 82 hours now. Good luck with yours, E3000 approach is nice way to try and speed things up. I'll just stick with my 2 hours per week.

Bless the kids that never get exposed to T and facial hair growth, what a mess.....

I can't do E3000 yet but I do hope to switch to it later, after my divorce. It also allows me to avoid the weekly "grow the face out" problem and reduces that to once every 8-10 weeks, which I see as another positive. Thursdays and Fridays bug me as the beard grows out for my Saturday morning sessions.

Good luck to you and Kathryn both!

Ohh.. I was one of the lucky ones.. I had started with electrolysis a few years ago, then the the lady doing it recommended I try laser first as I was never able to really grow a beard.. If i stopped shaving for a month I would only have about 1/8" of growth. So I ordered one of the home lasers, A Silk'n. and for me I have had very good luck with it since I am fair skinned and dark hair. I have been using it for about 3 months now and really have seen a big difference in my return growth. When the facial hair starts to come in is much finer and sparse. I usually shave my face every 3 days or so just to get rid of the slight stubble.. The grey(5 o clock shadow is almost gone under my nose.)

As for my armpits and nether regions since they never see sunlight are pretty much done already. Have maybe one or 2 treatments left to do in another 6 weeks or so.

To finish off my face I will have to have about 2 or 3 hours of electrolysis just to remove the stubborn old lady grey hairs.

I have read many Mixed reviews about the DIY home lasers and all I can say it worked for me.. I guess it was the perfect storm so to say with my hair and skin type.

E3000 is a dream for me!

I read it usually only takes 3 trips to complete the process.

I'm about 40 hours into my electro, doing 1 and 2 hour appointments. My facial hair is sparse, so hopefully I will be done around the end of the year, at 100 hours or so. Soo looking forward to that!

I have been lucky and unlucky at the same time and for the same reasons.

Unlucky because almost all of my rather sparse facial hair is gray, what else would you expect form someone my age whose hair is completely gray?

Lucky because with only 6 laser sessions (from an introductory coupon $99 for all 6 sessions) concentrated only on the chin, the only place that had any hair darker than my skin, all of the dark hairs are gone.

Unlucky because I hate electrolysis - I had a very few sessions back in Cowtown but with noting but gray and white left there is no other real alternative.

Working everyday with the public as a sales consultant it is rather difficult to let it grow for a session.

Love ya,

Sally

I have found some people correlate TG = child predator ... just as some have correlated homosexual = child predator...    I am baffled by the TG = unsafe connection ... my wife tends to think this way, that this is all about sexual deviancy ... I try to ask how my preference for wearing frilly socks with embroidered flowers and a comfortable camisole under my lavender T-shirts is sexually deviant (or sexual anything) but I don't get very far...

Not sure.  The perp is a minor.  The problem here is NOT transgender, the problem here is incompetent and criminal administration.  See https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/family-of-loudoun-co-student-sexually-assaulted-ineptitude-of-all-involved-is-staggering/3231725/ It is more than annoying that people think the problem here is TG and that other people think the solution is some stupid statewide law.  Like an appendectomy to deal with an ingrown toe nail.    Since Loudon, I recall a boy was asked not to use the girl's restroom at a high school by one of the girls.  He, overwhelming her with height and weight,  assaulted her, claiming he had a right to be there.   Later I think eight girls beat him severely in another girl's restroom.  Again the problem is not transgender, the problem is assaults in restrooms and common courtesy.  TG is used as a smokescreen and it seems to paralyze thought among administrators who do not want to do anything to provoke controversy.

Time to get with your Primary Care doctor and be referred to a neurologist or an orthopedist.  It could be many things, too many for any of us here to guess at.

Other than the Boy Scout motto, oath, and law. I use two:   When asked how I'm doing? In all honesty I reply. I would have to make something up to complain. If asked to explain further: I reply. I know someone is having a tougher time than I am, and I pray God blesses them.   I also recite this quote that I have tagged in my signature: Courage, doesn't always roar. Sometimes it's the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow."-Unknown    Saying these things daily keep me motivated.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

If this goes on, I am conceding the real possibility of being stopped in WM or somewhere by a concerned citizen who tells me, "Lady, God made you female.  I don't think you should be trying to look like a man. You need to return to your true gender and be comfortable living your life out as a woman."   Begin odd and awkward conversation.  I have been thinking about this this morning.

There are many MAGA GOP types who are not transphobes, of course. Some MAGA GOP types are transgender.

I'm hoping to read the next section today.  Many of the reforms they are calling for are good, such as expediting the military procurement process, and have nothing to do with transgender issues.

Good afternoon,    I have a young friend who is vegetarian and married to a full on meat eater. They have two areas of their grill clearly designated for their different cooking requirements. When she’s cooking she uses tongs or chopsticks to handle any meats. When he’s cooking he respects her request not to cook her meals on the side where meat has been. They get along fine and respect each other.    When she attends our house, she usually brings her own food, but knows I will clean my grill to meet her requirements. We love and respect her commitment to be vegetarian. I love that she trusts me to make her comfortable when visiting us. There are ways to make it work.    Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

I was going to call it Numbness, then I realised well.. it isn't. basically, yeah, it isn't.   this only happens to me sometimes. I'll be lying down and my legs will.. well, I guess lock?   If I straighten them out, they will unlock- when I roll over again, they will lock again. this lasts for around 10/ 15 minutes I guess   it's not pins and needles either
