Hysterectomy And Intimacy

I was wondering about how my "intimate life" will change once I get a hysterectomy. If anyone could give me some advice, would you please PM me. I'm trying to find out all I can about each type and how it will affect all aspects of my life.

I've been looking over the internet and in other groups trying to find this information, and I can't quite find anything specifically talking about "intimacy". I mostly am finding more about scarring, periods, risks, etc.

Anyway, please PM me if you can help me! Thank you!!

Crossroads. My wife had a hysterectomy and it didn't change her in any way except one ... Relief! No more worries about cancer, cycles or extra parts...

The fact that until the mid 60's it was a common surgery for women past their 'child bearring years' at the first sign of anything remotely trouble some they did hysterectomies, don't bother with a biopsy, just take it all. It's main effect on intamacy would seem to be only in someone still young enough to have children, who want to have children and for medical reasons had to have a hysterectomy - now the feelings of lose come into play. For you those feelings simply will not exist and that is the real cause of any effect on intimacy.

Not scientific, but from the heart. Like the difference between sex and gender, intimacy is in the mind, a matter of perception, the physical is merely a reinforcement, for the true passion in intimacy is the blending and touching of two minds and hearts not just the bodies.

Love ya,

Sally (the hopeless romantic)

I haven't had a hysto, so I don't know anything firsthand. One thing I have heard though is that, once those parts are gone, there's kind of a space there. Other organs can sag or whatever. My grandmother had some issues related to that. Anyway, that was with an old school hysto. I don't know if they do something now to keep stuff in place. You know, like put in an extra stitch or some supports.

You'll be fine...

Thank y'all so much for your responses! I feel much less worried now and ready to tackle the options (Why can't my uterus just be GONE?!)

Thanks again!

You may want to check out the following links for more information. Be forewarned, the are talking about sex and so are not appropriate for younger audiences. Also, you may have to register with livejournal and then join the community to read the info.

There may also be information on this on http://community.livejournal.com/hysterectomies/ but I'm too lazy to look through yet another community. Be forewarned that this last one is mostly for cissexual women, though I've heard they're accepting for FTMs as well.

LOL, happens to me quite a bit. Although not so much this time, I guess because it's words not pictures :P

Thank you! So do I! Although I'm proud of what it portrays, I don't wear it often because I think it could be taken as being a bit provocative. One part of me says look at me, I'm proud to be on the rainbow and the other part says pull your head in, you're asking for trouble.   I do have a more subtle pride t-shirt that I visibly wear more often, here is a representation of it: "Moon phase rainbow" V-Neck T-Shirt by secretmagic | Redbubble

Emotional stability is a personality trait that describes how calm, collected, and emotionally consistent someone is. It's the opposite of neuroticism, which is a personality trait that describes how much negative affect, emotional volatility, and mood fluctuation a person displays.

I'm lucky. I have both. For therapists, the Psychology Today is a good source, as is the resource section here at TP.  BOTH are soi vital.

Hello @The Lake, Welcome to our forum. I’m intrigued by your introduction and would enjoy reading more about your backstory. We all have very unique journeys and yours is not one I have come across often. As you become more comfortable with our community, maybe you could share more aout how your gender identity evolved, what difficulties you confronted and endured and what some of your successes were along the way. Also, do you see yourself involved in a future transition of roles, presentation, social, physical, or something else entirely? There is never any pressure to share a thing here. So feel free to share as little or as much as you like. We are a very open-minded nonjudgmental group who enjoy learning new things from our members.   Warmest Regards, Susan R🌷

Welcome @gizgizgizzie, It’s nice to have you in the fold. We are a very diverse group so you’ll fit in just fine. Right now, society at large is getting bombarded with misinformation, bait and switch tactics, propaganda and lies so it’s no wonder no one can get it right. I don’t come out and explain things about my gender identity as much these days but when I do it’s amazing how little these people know about our transgender community in 2024.   Thanks for sharing a little about yourself. I hope to learn more about you as you become more acclimated and active within our forum.   Warmest Regards, Susan R🌷

Speaking of hair days…for me, hair has always been the part of my presentation that had the most impact on my overall view of myself. It was much worse for me earlier in my transition. I enjoy experimenting with new hair styles so once in a while, I’ll end up completely redoing my hair because it somehow reminded me of my old self. Self image is a strange yet powerful thing and it take a lot of time and effort to change it.
