Business and Formal Attire

I've got some questions. So, I have wide hips and narrow shoulders. I've been trying to find clothes like blazers, sports coats, and suits with a whole lot of problems. I'm short so I have to buy an "S" suit (short). Unfortunately these jackets are not short enough! Sure, the overall length is acceptable but the buttons are always too low. Since my shoulders aren't as wide, I have to go up a size or two to compensate for my hips. This leaves me with a jacket that's wide in the shoulder but fits in the hip. Same thing with shirts...I know people say "get a shirt that fits in the collar and sleeve then tailor the rest" but a shirt that fits in the collar is too small for my hips and might fit my shoulders. Sleeve length is just impossible to find.

Are there brands out there that cater to a person of my shape? And what sort of stuff can you get away with when it comes to not quite fitting and formal or business attire?

you would really have to go get a custom suit. it is crazy expensive but crazy worth it.

It really isn't. My body is always changing from hormones so I'd be spending a lot of money on a suit that won't fit me in a few months.

Im right there with you Kieran, between weight loss and HRT I keep buying new clothes. I would definitely not get anything tailored until your body sort of stabilizes.

Heh I don't plan on getting anything tailored ever (I really have no money and don't intend on spending big bucks on clothes.

Fortunately, tailors exist and are trained to modify clothing to make it better fit you. The same can't be said for shoes.

What other solutions really exist? You could always take up tailoring yourself.

But really, discounting the one solution for the problem you pose...

Payless goes up to women's 13. Nordstrom also carries larger size women's shoes, up to 14. Shoe size generally doesn't change once you're an adult where as body weight, and shape does change. My shape since starting hormones has changed dramatically and is continuing to change. It would be great to learn how to tailor clothes but it'd also be great to take up a hobby I would enjoy instead.
