I don't know about the law in Scotland but in the US you might have a valid complaint depending on your state. You certainly have a good reason to shop elsewhere. Is common decency so uncommon? Sorry for that difficulty.

It sounds like you have the law on your side, Hannah. I think you did right by standing up for yourself and not letting yourself be bullied. Clearly there is a lack of education and training in that place. I am sorry you had to endure that, and end up in the news on top of it, but I wish you all the best. Please keep us informed of how things go. Also, if there is any legal actions being considered by the Centre, you may want to keep a low profile here and even have this thread pulled, so as to avoid having it used against you.

Hi Hannah.

Kudos to you on standing up for your rights as a woman. I'm originally from your part of the world, having been born and raised, "Doon the watter" from where you work and always found passing through some areas of Paisley before my transition intimidating at the best of times, never mind how I would find it now. I don't think I would have the courage to transition in Scotland the way I do in America, probably because I grew up there and saw how the ignorant people treat anyone who is different. Not that the U.S.A. is any better with the bigots, just the majority of people I meet over here don't seem to care one way or the other. I wish you every success in your continuing transition and hope the idiot guards get a one way ticket to the Dole Queue.

She is eight months into her Real-Life Test (RLT), which is a period of time transgender individuals live full-time in their preferred gender role.

This is to show she can function successfully as a female in society and to give her time to be sure she wants to live as a woman for the rest of her life.

She must complete the RLT before getting various hormone treatments in preparation for sex reassignment surgery.

Did the paper get it wrong on that, or do they make you live as female for a year without hormones over there?
