Why are Conservatoves flashing around Ben Carson and his Community College Doctorate?

Dr. Benjamin Carson, self-proclaimed member of the "Logic Party", Neurosurgeon, Seventh-Day Adventist. Alot of Conservatives in the US are flashing the man around screaming "SEE! LOOK, AN INTELLIGENT MAN THAT'S ALSO A REPUBLICAN!" Except he's really not. in March 2013 Ben was quoted as saying on Hannity "Marriage is between a man and a woman. No group, be they gays, be they NAMBLA, be they people who believe in bestiality, it doesn't matter what they are. They don't get to change the definition." OOOOh, someone with a doctorate comparing homosexuality to pedophilia and zoophilia? That doesn't seem right. The man's either a fool or a liar, and I wouldn't vote for either.

This is why america is so divided, because we reject each other simply because one does not think what we think. There wrong ik right la la la im not listening, your dumb cause you think god..... your stupid global warming.....la la.

Just because mr carson believes in a fundamental law of marrige. Ie. Marrige is a covenent with God, does not make him any less intelligent. It simply means that his belief system is different from yours. Also i take extreme afront to the idea that republjcans are dumb country hicks. I am a college educated republican with solid christianesc system of beliefs.

Next time you want to be this judgemental I suggest you ask yourself how you are any differ from the so called bigots you rail sgainst so often

Of course he's allowed to have that belief. But anyone with a DOCTORATE IN NUEROLOGY/ NUEROSURGEON who doesn't know that the hypothalamus is responsible for one's sexual orientation, and that Pedophilia is NOT a sexual orientation...I don't even know what to say about that individual.

I'm lost. Where does this guy in the quotes above discuss the cause of sexual orientation and mention pedophilia being an orientation? Did you post the wrong quote?

The problem RainbowGoth that you are face with is that you are allowing your own bias get in the way from being tolerable of other's view. Dr. Carson did not as Kimberly pointed out mention anything about sexual orientation, Pedophilia, or anything else, his whole premise was simply to state that based on his beliefs, marriage is between a man and a woman and no one else should be able to change that definition. We don't have to believe his statement and still be able to respect him and not denigrate his credentials as you have done, not to mention his political affiliations. If we are going to have an honest discourse about any given topic, even one as polorizing as this is to you Rainbow then we need to not let our intellect be led around by our emotions; you're bound to trip up every time.

People are allowed to be stupid, if they want to believe the bible told them gays are wrong etc then that's their choice. That's their right to stupidity in this country. Let them believe what they want, I still believe they are idiots for it. That goes doubly so for glbt that believe that you go to hell or that we should not be allowed to have marriage equality.

People can hold whatever view they want it is just when they start quoting a religious book such as the bible to deny human rights, nevermind that it is in country that supposedly has a seperation between church and state, or the fact that why should we even have government recognized marriages if it is based on their religious view, and yet that view is only an interpretation that many people still disagree on.

So please do not make excuses for this bigoted people if they feel their churches should not preform these marrages fine but they should not force citizens to be subjected to their out dated beliefs.

Nicki honey,

what is in the Bill of Rights is the right to free speech, what isn't in the bill of rights is the separation of church and state; it doesn't exist. We must allow people for whom we vehemously disgree with to speak their mind no matter how religious or ridiculous they may sound to us. This is not a matter of making excuses for a bigot, but its about standing up for each person to have the fundamental right to speak their mind, because if we don't their will be someone down the road who will try to shut us up. Btw, the church does not have the power to force "citizens to be subjected to their out dated beliefs."

The First Amendment states that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof."

There is nothing wrong with them using their free speech. However they should not be able to impose their views that are based on, not mention a conflicted interpretation of their view of denying someone their human rights.

Also I meant that if these people believe that gay people should not be allowed to marry then fine their churches do not have to preform them or recognize them. However they should not be able to shove them down everyone's throats just because they interpret the bible differently.

The First Amendment states that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof."

Which means they can't make Lutheran the official religion of the USA or prevent anyone else from the free practice of their own religion.

There have been numerous examples of the Feds overlapping with religious groups. Even before the official formation of the country.

"Btw, the church does not have the power to force "citizens to be subjected to their out dated beliefs."

No but the insane amounts of money they have that is tax free sure has a power. A power to pay for the evil they commit through out the world.

Like I said before, stupid people are allowed to be stupid, if they believe the bible told them to be a hateful bigot then whatever. They would still be stupid.

Welcome to TransPulseForums @gizgizgizzie    I hope you find this place as helpful as I do. I’m also in a slow transition living in the androgynous world. I’m out to my grown children and my extended family with mixed support from them. Some have cut me out of their lives and others want me to be their flamboyant family member.    Best wishes, stay positive and motivated    Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Accidents happen.  So do heat-of-the-moment murders, without premeditation or trans-related hate.  It will take a trial to really figure it out.     One thing we can see from this is that it is people in our circles of acquaintances, friends, and partners who are the ones who usually hurt us.  Not someone random. We have to be careful who we trust.

Friday May 17th is IDAHOBIT (International Day Against HOmophobia, BIphobia and Transphobia).   Do you acknowledge or celebrate it? Do you do anything special for it, like taking part in any organized events or activities?   I'm not an activist and I prefer to fly under the radar, but I am slowly becoming aware of important dates. I have been aware of the date of IDAHOBIT for a few weeks now, but other important 'rainbow' dates have not been etched into my brain yet.    I will wear my favorite pride t-shirt as a token acknowledgement of the day, but it probably won't be seen; cool weather here will mean that it will be hidden under a sweater.

Happiness for me comes from being cognizant of the things that make me feel good.   Sunshine.   Pandering to my inner woman.   Knowing that some people in my life really 'know' me.   Vacations, and Eggs Benedict at an alfresco cafe.   My wife and I being telepathic.   Grandchildren.   Music.   Wine!

True.  Every trans death is not a hate crime. There is so much hate expressed by some people, that we kinda get to expect it.

Hello & welcome, giz! Your post makes me remember how excited I was to join here too. I also had queer friends at the time I joined, but any of my trans friends lived a long distance away. So most local queer friends are gay & I felt uncomfortable coming out to them bc I couldn't assume they'd understand genderqueerness. So it was a thrill to join here and immediately have access to do many wonderful, genuine, kind & thoughtful friends-to-be.   Are you saying you're concerned that if you come out to your queer friends that somehow your parents will find out?     My love, I just want to affirm that that's not a weird dysphoria. It's just dysphoria. And we definitely get it. You're in good company here!     Look forward to seeing you around here & getting to know you. I shoot for androgynous appearance as well, leaning towards masculine.   Hope you're having a splendid day!

Listening to a YouTube mix for me and this song came up and I immediately fell in love again and just want to play music with like minded musicians playing OUR music and feel the joy and fulfillment even if no one else gets it. I love to fall into the music....

Welcome to the forums, giz! We’re so happy you found us. You’ll find lots of information and many wonderful people here. Each of us is unique but we all share similarities as well. Look around, ask questions and join in where you feel comfortable!
