Today I received an order of clothes I had been waiting on because it contains a lot of basics like tees and jeans -- all women's, of course. I have some camis and tops that I really like together, but I'm just not to the point where I can wear those out yet. But today, I technically 100% dressed for the first time while running errands. I wore a black v-neck tee over a brown heather long sleeve tee (I've always been a little punkrock/tomboy) with my favorite boot cut jeans and sandals. Also a watch, bracelet, and favorite beaded hemp necklace. Oh and a bra, but without any forms (I'm not that brave!)

So I'm standing in the checkout line at the store (with a cart full of a ton of stuff b/c I just moved) and there's this 40ish man with his 5yo daughter in line in front of me. I wasn't paying attention to them really and I was just standing there basically being myself. And the girl says, "Look daddy, she's buying a lot." Yeah, *SHE'S* buying a lot! SQUEEEEE! Somehow I pretended I didn't hear. But what almost ruined it is that after a second or two the father said "Yes, he's buying a lot." He didn't emphasize "he", but it was clear what he said. Jerk. But I say *almost* ruined, because I still feel like I'm becoming the woman I'm supposed to be, even if only today through the eyes of a little girl. Baby steps, baby steps.

Anyway, I just wanted to share that. :)

Hi Emily,

It could very well be the man thought you were a feminine guy and thought his Daughter offended you by referring to you as a woman. We have to

remember there is a broad spectrum of how people may appear to some one else. Take is a chance to learn. Who knows what he was really thinking

but him...

Good luck.

Emily,

How wonderful for you!

Take the words of the daughter and revel in them, take the words of the father and ignore them. Children are so wonderfully amazing at seeing the world and calling things like they are. They have not yet placed on the tainted glasses that life gives us all. She saw you as who you are - beautiful Emily!

Hugs!

Jaime Lynn
