washing delicate clothing

Hi Girls, I have recently been buying lots of skirts, dresses and tops from Dressbarn, many of the items can be put

in the washer on the delicate cycle. Some are hand wash only or spot clean, how and what do I use for

hand washing and spot cleaning.

Woolite for washing by hand. For spot cleaning buy item that is specifically for spot/stain removals.

I never hand wash anything, I just throw it in the gentle cycle cold/cold and hang it dry afterward. Haven't noticed anything bad happen from doing it this way, but YMMV.

Sophia gave you the recommendation I prefer for my really delicate stuff, but if your washing machine is less than 5 years old, its delicate cycle will probably be ok. If the garment has decoration on the outside, turn the thing inside out. You can get a mesh bag that you put the delicate item in and wash it in that too.

For hand washing, just use the dish sink, clean it before doing the laundry to be sure there is no grease in it, then put a cap full of the Woolite, or even dish soap, in the sink, fill about half full of water, and put your garment in. Mostly just slosh it around in the suds for about 5 minutes and do a little bit of a cloth to cloth scrub if you see a specific spot. let the suds out of the sink, run COLD water as full as the sink had been, slosh around another 5 minutes. let the water out. If the garment is a loose knit fabric, dry it on a towel, do not hang it up or it will lose shape. When fully air dry, then hang up.

Spotting -- Tide To Go, Spray n' wash stain stick, Spray n' wash spray, Shout spray all will work fine, or sometimes a spot of liquid hand soap applied about 15 minutes before starting to was the stuff.

Two me there are two kinds of delicates. Expensive one and regular ones.

Regular delicates I just toss into the machine and run on "gentle" if you're feeling compulsive you can even buy "gentle detergent" as well but I've never gone that far.

Just make sure they are dried on gentle as well.

For the expensive stuff I'll wash them in a sink with either hand soap or detergent. And then I'll either hang or line dry them.
