Close my eyes

I close my eyes

with the setting sun.

The dream to take me

not yet begun.

Desire the darkness

that takes me blind.

Hold my hand

in the coldness of time.

I wake

in the dream.

To find

I am finally me.

Bereft of the veil

that shadows my face.

Bask in the sun

in this fantasy place.

My spirit soars.

My heart delights.

My feet dance.

My soul alights.

I wake

in the dream.

To find

its just me.

And too soon

as night falls to dawn.

The veil is replaced

to shadow I again belong.

The sun risen

my eyes no longer closed.

The veil firmly in place

I wake into the cold.

The day's beginning

over once begun.

'Till next I close my eyes

with the setting of the sun.

As I was writing this I was reminded of a long lost friend of mine. He was such an inspriation to me. Now that I think of him I believe he may have even been the only person to see exactly what was inside me all along. He never said anything because I think he was waiting for me to be ready. I never was ready while he was still here and I miss him so much now. He would have been someone I could have come out to at any time and he would have accepted me exactly as I am... because he already had. I realize that now. I often speak to him in my dreams. Maybe one dream soon I'll get to introduce him to the real me... the me he already knew.
