As I sit and watch the devastation of the economy and the effects it has on all, I took a moment to reflect...hope you like it.

God Save Us All

I awoke this morn to face my fears

of losing it all despite my years.

For my Father fought as so did his Dad

to secure my freedom from those that are bad.

Little did they know that those who steered their fight

Would be the same Charlatans that would turn out the light.

My money is gone and my house met the same fate.

I wish for my children that I could erase the slate.

Our country has been sold to those without pride

In our country of old...not on our side.

I stopped in local just to quench my thirst

To only find English was not the clerk's first.

I put ten dollars in the tank and a gallon it bought

My God save this country or the fallen is not

Justified in death for Old Glory she waved

My God, my God we're waiting to be saved.

When did this start and from where did it rise?

It started with freedoms being slowly compromised.

Smokers became criminals as so did your friend

Who had grass a bit too high, my God what a sin.

We slowly lost sight that all people matter

No matter their parents or their own pitter patters.

To make our selves prosper either ego or wealth

We put our neighbor down despite their health.

It now matters not what vehicle you drive

It's parked just to buy groceries and to stay alive.

Your house once pretty and the best on the block

Needs many repairs but no one is shocked.

If you look deep at the problem...an end is there

It matters not what you drive or what you wear

For God evened the field for all that still play.

We all now know that Love is the only way.

It costs nothing to get and nothing to give

Remember our heroes who chose death than to live

They knew love beyond measure as we all will soon know

God, thank-you for the hell...it was worth it and so

Love your neighbor, yourself and your friend

It easy to do and addicting to the end

Remember the past, the future, and today.

God love you and keep you from going astray.

Chay I have wondered about your user name, are you part Native American - I noticed that you are in Texas and about half the state is at least one eigth Cherokee. I only one sixteenth myself. I love the poem and your username!

Yes - I am also a native Texan - although Sally says it don't count no more- grin

Not Cherokee - an associated group with the Cherokee - Surry-Yadkin County North Carolina Melugeon - a mixed race American Indian group. My grandfather claimed one-half. He was from Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Not that that has ANYTHING to do with your posting... I just ... well... my dad fought in WWI and my grandfather (same one mentioned) fought in WWI.

Of course they are deceased - they lived through the Great Depression - I wonder what they would think of today?

My name "Chayton" is Sioux for 'the one that dances with falcons'. Since most folks don't know that while the Eagle may have been revered...the falcon was the God of the air. I use Eagledancer because it is more identifiable. I am native Texan, but I am displaced from the tribe of blood! I was not fortunate to have been raised with ANY native identity, but I have since changed that. Thanks for the responses...I hope you and yours are well and happy.
