How do i get rid of my male characteristics

I am only 16 and i really want to transition soon!

BUT! I need to get rid of some of my male characteristics and i want to work and improve all of these things step by step so ill be ready when i start transitioning!

What i already have -

Slim Waist

Female mind

What i need to get rid of

-How do i walk as a women? I have what people call a swag walk, its funny actually, but because of it if my foot is normally placed on the ground instead of being on a straight line, my right foot would be a bit slanted right and my left a bit slanted left and i can't wear flip flops because my foot usually starts stepping on the ground haha. So how do i work on walking as a women

-My voice, now this is a problem, its still kind of cracky, but just a bit lol, it sounds male, but it feels like a female is trying to break out also, since i was 6 i had my adams apple cut out or something because i have a scar on my throat, and when i feel my throat i don't have an adams apple, i really don't know what the surgery was because my parents could never clearly explain it to me lol >.>. So yeah i need to improve my voice and i did sign up for those free lessons

-My fingers, but i think hormones will make them thinner

-MAKE UP, like im pretty bad at it !!!!! I know how to put on lip gloss, lip stick, and mascara, but nothing else lol >.>. But i think i could trick a lot of my girlfriends who are good friends with me to put make up on me, and maybe i can then learn

Posture, how do i get a female posture, i have my shoulders back or do you think hormones will also improve my posture?

So yeah thats it, i do need to shave my legs, but i guess everything else is good. SO GUYS please give me some tips on how to improve all of the things i stated above

Hormones are NOT a magic potion for ANY of what you are concerned about, so take a breath, and know you will have to wait for them, but the wait will not destroy you, and unprescribed meds could destroy you.

Don't trick your girl friends into making you up, but do go ahead and ask them about make-up. Why not look in to becoming an AVON or related line cosmetics representative?? You would have a senior dealer in the area teach you how to do it, and then you demonstrate for groups. Good way to make money for your coming therapies. There are male Avon reps who do a very good job, some are gay, some are not, some are___________! You would have to get your folks to back you on that, but mom may become your best customer.

Take a drama class at school, and get the teacher to help you learn the female movements. Take a dance class or join a dance club and you will get some movement coaching there as well.

Last but not least, read the life out of this place and see the tips and tricks that other members have posted. There is a lot of good stuff here in spite of my being the practical one that I am.

Thats what i said in my first line!

"I am only 16 and i really want to transition soon!

I will never take hormone's unless I am prescribed them, i am not that stupid >.> i have been researching medical things since 12 and my dad is a doctor, so I am medical smart

But a drama and dance class, i might have to think on that haha, I don't really have any free space left since i took AP science classes and they take up 2 classes instead of one. Maybe after school, but good idea haha

And im only 16 i think im to young to work in a store like that, and getting to a place with AVON with out a car is pretty dam hard lol

Thanks Vicky

Free Online Voice Feminization Classes!

Free online Voice Feminization Classes coming up in August with Nina Irani (Read More)

The dates are August 20, 22 & 24th and the time is 1pm PT/4pm ET/8pm GMT.

NB: These are external to Laura's Playground but are noted here due to the opportunity they offer our MTF members.

Make-Up: In addittion to having your girlfriends help you, practice, practice, practice makes perfect. :)

The more you do it the easier it becomes.

I am planning to go to Sephora's for improving my make-up skills. (They are Trans Friendly)

They offer a "Customized Makeup Application"

They give you a Facial Makeover which is "basically" free.

The only catch is that you need to purchase at least $50.00 in make-up supplies.

That will be easy for me to purchasing the Make Up supplies I will need.

The people that do it are Professionals.

If you are happy with the information you received at Laura’s Playground, tell your friends.

If you are unhappy with anything at Laura’s Playground, tell us so that we can improve it.

We all Support, Care for, and Love You and want to see you Happy, Healthy and Transition Safely. :wub:Hugs,

Hon,

A lot of what you are describing takes practice, practice, practice.

Be patient with yourself.

You'll get there :)

Brenda

What i did was go to the mall and observe girls your age, how they walk, sit, mannerisms, talk etc then go home and practice, keep doing that and you will pick it up, just know it's not going to all happen overnight. Girls and women come in all shapes and sizes, i wouldn't worry about your hands.

As far as voice goes there are some good links and information in the voice forum, it can take several months to years to get a good voice, take things slow at first but practice practice practice.

What i did for makeup is i found a cosmetologist that showed me how to apply makeup and what shades went with my skin tone, from there it was practice, what i found is less is more natural looking.

I think, if you choose to take that route when you're 18, HRT will be a great way of boosting your confidence and helping you feel more physically feminine. But, like VickySVG said, they aren't "magic pills." The good news is that femininity can be expressed in many, many different ways! :)

As for make-up, there are a few transgender-specific make-up tutorials on youtube that might help you get started with the basics, such as applying foundation, blush, covering 5 o'clock shadows, doing eyes and lips, etc. Just type in "Transgender make-up tutorial" or "make-up tutorial for trans women" on the search engine.

Good posture is always good to maintain regardless of your gender, but remember that there really is no one-way for girls or boys to walk.

Oh, and voice: Have you checked out Andrea James's videos yet? They are on youtube and really helpful in finding your female voice. Just type in "Finding your Female Voice, Andrea James" in the search engine.

As Eva notes, there is no one way to walk but a simple observation - most females don't "sprawl" whereas many males do, maximizing their space when they stand, walk, sit, or even lay down. Begin by controlling the space you occupy and then spend time studying women. All women, all shapes, all sizes, all ages, but particularly those closest to your age. Study, study, study, and practice, practice, practice, and even then you won't be perfect. But keep trying!

Thank you! So do I! Although I'm proud of what it portrays, I don't wear it often because I think it could be taken as being a bit provocative. One part of me says look at me, I'm proud to be on the rainbow and the other part says pull your head in, you're asking for trouble.   I do have a more subtle pride t-shirt that I visibly wear more often, here is a representation of it: "Moon phase rainbow" V-Neck T-Shirt by secretmagic | Redbubble

Emotional stability is a personality trait that describes how calm, collected, and emotionally consistent someone is. It's the opposite of neuroticism, which is a personality trait that describes how much negative affect, emotional volatility, and mood fluctuation a person displays.

I'm lucky. I have both. For therapists, the Psychology Today is a good source, as is the resource section here at TP.  BOTH are soi vital.

Hello @The Lake, Welcome to our forum. I’m intrigued by your introduction and would enjoy reading more about your backstory. We all have very unique journeys and yours is not one I have come across often. As you become more comfortable with our community, maybe you could share more aout how your gender identity evolved, what difficulties you confronted and endured and what some of your successes were along the way. Also, do you see yourself involved in a future transition of roles, presentation, social, physical, or something else entirely? There is never any pressure to share a thing here. So feel free to share as little or as much as you like. We are a very open-minded nonjudgmental group who enjoy learning new things from our members.   Warmest Regards, Susan R🌷

Welcome @gizgizgizzie, It’s nice to have you in the fold. We are a very diverse group so you’ll fit in just fine. Right now, society at large is getting bombarded with misinformation, bait and switch tactics, propaganda and lies so it’s no wonder no one can get it right. I don’t come out and explain things about my gender identity as much these days but when I do it’s amazing how little these people know about our transgender community in 2024.   Thanks for sharing a little about yourself. I hope to learn more about you as you become more acclimated and active within our forum.   Warmest Regards, Susan R🌷

Speaking of hair days…for me, hair has always been the part of my presentation that had the most impact on my overall view of myself. It was much worse for me earlier in my transition. I enjoy experimenting with new hair styles so once in a while, I’ll end up completely redoing my hair because it somehow reminded me of my old self. Self image is a strange yet powerful thing and it take a lot of time and effort to change it.
