"Specifically, our reasonable expectations of privacy include the following:

Our child will not be subjected to the view of any other person, adult or minor, whether in person, by camera or other visual surveillance, in a state of either full or partial nudity, when that person does not share the anatomical, biological and chromosomal sex of our child."

So, the right to privacy for cisgender people trumps a trans person's right to anatomical and medical privacy? What right do they have to know what somebody's chromosomes look like?

"Chromosomal sex" has been ignored by biologists for about 40 years now. These people are using that term to sound pseudo-scientific and assert something that is not even true. For example, I'm sure these bigots don't even realize that approximately 1 in 30,000 female births is XY (Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome - see http://ghr.nlm.nih.gov/condition/androgen-insensitivity-syndrome ). I'm sure these people will have a hissy fit at Klinefelter's Syndrome (XXY babies, who usually develop male and rarely develop female - see http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15755052 ).

(NOTE: The discovery of XXY females in the last several years suggests that they simply have been overlooked and thus the true number of XXY females is not yet firmly established, other than the cases cited above that it does occur.)

This thing is pretty lame, but the answer is for the parents to tell the daughter to use the unmarked single toilet room instead of the ones her XX chromasome (of which one X does not do anything) compatriots uses. But to make sure, before they do that, the school authorities should demand a chromasomal test on the child from the parents. OHHH could that be an eye opener. By the way, how many young kids are going to pay attention to their parents on that kind of stuff?

No, the right to privacy of those of natal sex do not trump transgender privacy rights. However, neither do the transgender's trump theirs. Each has a right to their privacy, and a right to a safe space, if such a space is clearly marked. I do not find it coincidental that the number of such demands and proposed laws have dramatically increased since Colleen Francis' appearance sans clothing in the women's sauna, and then claimed discrimination. That just might cause some people to get upset, and by gosh, it seems to have done so.

The irony here is that during the debate, the bill's sponsors talked of the feelings of all sides on the matter and if anyone felt uncomfortable, the authors hoped the schools would provide accommodations for the kids that were uncomfortable or who's parents didn't want them in there.

This is a form for those kids & parents to inform the school of their concern in writing. This was kinda how it was supposed to work more or less.

If I were a school official, I would provide a response stating that their concerns have been addressed by putting stalls in all of the bathrooms and dividers between the urinals in the men's room to ensure that nobody views another student's genitals. I would also state a school policy (and probably state laws) that says anybody exposing themselves to another in restrooms would be severely punished.

LOL

In going back to my memory banks of young years, it was always the kids talking loudest and showing off most who also were the proudest of being Sunday School members in the Sunday School class taught by our principal. The principal being their SS teacher gave them permission to be _________ in their minds.

Congratulations on your new family member!

I felt the urge to date and felt just like a teenager again. I have recorded my journal titled Ashley's Life From Start to Present. I was very moody and agitated and happy. I think it was my body's way of being in shock. After about two months it got better. Remember that you aren't the only one transitioning because your wife is too. Consider yourself lucky because I lost mine because of it and so have many others. Just enjoy the ride.

I'm sorry for asking so many questions about your situation. I'm in your camp and believe you should be able to be whoever you feel you need to be. I guess it the Union Shop Stewart coming out in me. I want you to be treated fairly as well as respectably. You're human, you're a client of theirs. Especially if you're paying money to be there.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Views, terminology, and aspects of how events came to be....aren't those directly related to the news item?  If not, I'm rather confused.

Second warning, this has gotten far and apart from the NEWS item that it started out with and is becoming a flat out battleground over political leanings and terminology.

Welcome to Lefty Land.... a festive theme park full of sparkles and unicorns, a perfect place except for one evil orange dragon wearing a blond wig.    I'm always amazed at the "flexibility" of definitions.  One person's f@scist seems like a centrist to others.  One person's "moderate" looks to others like the 2nd coming of Fidel Castro.  A normal marriage a century or two ago is now a criminal offense, and relationships that used to be a criminal offense are now open, normal marriages.  Pedophiles now want to be called "minor attracted persons" and teenagers are now defined as children.  A Republican in NY or CA would be a Democrat just about anywhere else.  I'm certainly no advocate for relativism, these are just observations.    What I find interesting about this Australian candidate is the attitude that he shouldn't be allowed to run for office.  Why?  Just because his views are different, or even offensive?  Who makes that determination?  Can an election really be open and fair if it is barred to candidates who are not "politically correct?"  Here in the USA, we can openly have candidates who are f@scist or any other thing they want to be, no real restrictions aside from eligibility requirements related to age, location, citizenship, and criminal record.

@Birdie You certainly have more patience than I do.  I don't take it well if I get scolded.  Either I sulk or I get nippish.    We had a good Mother's Day here yesterday.  Quite an event, since 4 of my partners are mothers.  GF enjoys it a lot, because she's very (excessively?) proud of having produced her 5 kids.  Her eldest starts school this fall.  Amazing how time flies...

Reminds me of elementary school when a kid yanked my chair as I was taking a seat. I told him to "go suck an egg" and we both got sent to the principals office. I was like, "tf did I do to deserve that?"

Firstly, it's nice to hear that your other half is now open to you living as you are!   Secondly, things I have noticed, having started shots just before the New Year: Tears do come much more easily I am far more tender with my wife and I like to snuggle more I have noticed anxiety has an increased effect on me I am on a weekly injection, so when I get near my next shot I have noticed feeling a little emotionally "blah" After shots I am much more energetic and bubbly Otherwise, I wouldn't say I've been on any kind of roller coaster of emotion and I'm far from unstable. So take heart and congratulations!
