Laser Or Electrolysis

When I went for my consultation visit to the electrolysis/laser center I was told that laser does not work on the light hairs, but it was best to go ahead and have laser done on the dark hairs so there would be less work to do when doing electrolysis. Laser being the cheaper of the two and faster to clear away the dark hairs which fall out after a day or so. The darker hairs of the face are usually around the lips and chin area of the face. The laser work felt like a high pressure atomizer (no problem). The electrolysis is sticking a fine needle into the hair folicles and plucking them out after the roots are fried. One sitting does not get all of the hair off the face, because there are many on a male beard. Also there are difference gowth cycles for growing hair and those that appear at one sitting are not the same ones that come up later. It takes time to clear away all growth cycles and stop the growing of facial hair. Don't be discouraged if it seems to take more time than you expect. All of the process of transitioning from male to female will take time and will have to be done in stages unless you are rich (which most of are not).

Rayne - thanks for the information

I was at the laser center Monday to talk to them. Once I save up enough money I'll start going for treatments.

I wonder if I'll need electrolysis also. They told me it usually took up to six laser treatments about six weeks apart to get all the facial hairs, due to the staggered growth patterns.

They also said that for two years after my last treatment, if any hairs show up they will treat me for free.

As I asked in another thread, without answer. What length should the facial hair be to be workable on electrolysis?

I can grow about 1 mm in 3 days. I would need about a week to grow 2-3 mm. And am already full-time.

Hi,

I do not found any information about the length of the hair you need. But I found some other information that indicate that you do not need to grow out your hair. It is written that with a laser epilation, the wave length of the laser is only absorbed by the pigments of the hair. It can pass the skin without any influence. So the laser shine through the skin to the root of the hair. This part must be dark to heat up and finally killed. So I would say no need to grow out the hairs. But I suggest to go to a laser specialist and ask about the treatment and the length of hair he need. Only the specialist knows best.

I also read that the alexandrit laser works best for hair removal. It has less effect to the skin and bigger effect to the hair.

Does anybody have some numbers ($$$)?

I think it is also possible to remove facial hairs as a man. Up to know I am not out to the public as a girl. I have to much facial hairs that make the skin dark after shaving. To pass good from the beginning I think to remove first all the hairs is step one. Than also makeup is more easy. Also because I hade shaving. Living without facial hair as a man should be no problem.

Unfortunately, laser would be too costly for nothing for me. I do have some light hairs, and I bet someone could do all my hairs in one session (yes I have that little hair).

So I was asking about the length needed for electrolysis. Some say 3 days worth, but 3 days won't grow much of my hair compared to the norm. I take 36 hours to have a 5 O'clock shadow (and hence why I pass with just shaving).

Hi,

if passing is possible with shaving only why do you want to remove the hairs? For me it sounds the best solution to just keep shaving. It cost less money and the side effects are nearly zero. With electrolysis you can get scars and with laser the skin can get rapidly fast into an old stage.

I let my beard grow for two days, but everyone has a different growth pattern. They usually want it just long enough to pluck with a twizzers after shooting the root; so plan your sessions around how long it takes for your hair to growth that long. They may not be able to get all of the hairs at one treatment because there are thousands of hairs on the face and neck; so expect to have to go back several times to get the entire face. Usually they like to do laser on the dark hairs so there is less to have to work on with electrolysis for the lighter hairs laser does not effect. Just don't do any deep cleansing after the treaments because it open up the pores for any protential infections. You can shave the next day and it will probably remove some of the dead hairs for any new folicles to form that were not present in the initial growth cycle. I hope this is helpful. I am still working on mine.

If you are just wanting to cross dress then that is fine, but if you are transitioning from male to female then you would want to change all your features not just facial hair.

I haven't counted them, but there's probably not that many.

I have a 2 inch by 1 inch surface on both sides of the chin (nothing in the middle), as well as a thin line on my upper lip. I have a single hair on my neck. None on my cheeks, and no sideburns. I was 24 pre-HRT, my genetic heritage is not particularly hairless (and all my brothers have full beards). Doctors refuse to consider an intersex condition such as AIS, and attribute my hairlessness to luck rather than test for anything.

And yes, I want a permanent solution. Who likes the aggravation of shaving everyday?

Good morning everyone,   It was our first night with our European Boxer and it went well. We got up at 05:30 let him out of the cage and went directly outside to give him a chance to go potty. It has been raining for two days and nights so the grass is soaked and nearly up to his belly. I don’t think he’s ever been outside while it’s raining or wet. I had my rain jacket on and a big brimmed hat as well as rain boots, he just stayed at my feet no matter where we went in the yard. I took him to the previous locations where out daughter’s dog had gone poo, but he just sat at my feet. Once inside and drying him off with a towel. He took a poo right there. So I gathered up his mess, and took him and his poo outside. So right now it’s dog one, trainer zero. Now that the coffee is brewed and I have a cup, he’s chewing on a toy.    Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Strange that I awoke from a dream dreaming about "being able to pee standing up!"   I know that sounds strange from someone AMAB, but intersex issues have always prevented that.    I wonder what made me dream like that? That was a first! 🤔

Morning y'all.    Nearly winter here, but it's a mild climate compared to what most of you experience. Even so, the best way to describe the mornings lately is...nipply! 😁

What I don’t like about the dealer working on my car, yes the put the paper mats on the floor, but why don’t they remove them when they bring my car to me?  And why do they always mess with my radio settings and my electronic dashboard settings?  I get them the way I want them and they seem to want them at factory default.  Leave things like you find them!  Why is that so difficult?  And don’t tell me it’s because the updated the computer! Every time!.  And no I haven’t figured out everything yet on the new car.  I can’t even get my key programmed to move my seat when I get in and out.  It’s supposed to move the seat, the mirrors, the steering wheel and several other things.  My old Eddie Bauer was easy to program but then it only programmed seat location and pedal location.   ok now that we’ve had our rousing knock on cars and dealer mechanics.  What else shall we talk about?  Bras?  Seems like an appropriate subject for most of us.  I have several different types. Two are famous store push-up padded to are more common everyday lightly padded ant one is a no padding no strap slip and the last one is a front close longline no padding.  Now that one supports the theory that I am now a B cup on my own. I’d prefer a C but then I’m not so sure my blouses would still fit without pulling.  Ah the problem we have as women.  And sizes are never ever the same.  Oh I’m a size ??  But men I need a large shirt and 36-30 pants and they always fit.   we can’t buy anything off the rack with confidence it will fit and I hate having to take it home to try one and return what doesn’t fit.   we’ll time to do my hair and leave.   love ya   Willow
