Advice I gave myself about style

This worked for me, so I'm hoping it will work for others.

"Try to look hot.

If you can't do hot, try to look pretty.

If you can't do pretty, try to look cute.

Never settle for less than cute. Never."

Also when it comes to shopping for clothes, if you are looking at a potential article of clothing and you cannot wait to get home and wear it, then buy it. If you are looking at it and thinking "well, maybe I'll wear it some day" do not get it! You'll never wear it. I threw out half a closet full of "well, maybe I'll wear it some day." I never ended up wearing it because I knew it was my last resort clothes and it didn't make me look cute, so I didn't want to wear something that didn't at least make me look cute.

I can relate to that , especially your comment about 'maybe I'll wear it some day' - it never happens.

I would extend things to include buying an article of clothing that looks good and like it would fit in to make a complete outfit. Unless you have a clear picture in mind of that outfit don't buy. I have several items which look really nice but I have great difficulty in matching into outfits.

Agreed! Probably half the shirts I own are really nice but a total pain in the butt to match with anything else. Although I've bought a lot of clothes to try and fit into this image of what I should look like as opposed to what I want to look like. So my advice, only buy clothes that fit your personal style!

Hi Lizzie,

Good advice, and so true. I have some dresses that I have only worn once and thought eh... last resort.

I also have some clothes that, I admit, were too ambitious. But I chalk all of that up to learning what works for you.

Thanks hon

Love

Brenda

It's funny that you mention only buying what I know you can use for an outfit, the other day my little sister was rummaging through my closet (which btw makes me soooooo happy) and every once in a while she'd pull some thing out and say "when/where the heck do you wear this!?!" Holding up thugs that alone looked like they belong on the streets or jn an adult club, and my awnser to her would be "grab *lists off several random pieces of clothing* and lay them out together on the bed" curious shed do as I said and found that the items she questioned me on often made very cute/hot outfits when joined with their appropriate partners and no longer looked as if they were the cloths of a street walker, soon she just stopped questioning me and would try piecing things together her self to see what went with what. It was quite entertaining hehe

Yes Wildwolf - I can relate to that :) - one of the garments that I wear at the moment describes itself as a cami dress. I have worn during the summer underneath a loosly buttoned shirt (good and airy - excellant for keeping cool but some sun protection) and recently under a polo necked top as a longline vest. On view it looks like a long top (comes halfway down thigh) or something very basic (skirt?). Women notice and realise but men either tend to be confused or are seldom concerned - I like it because it fits with what I wear and is feminine. Without any kind of top it would stop people in their tracks due to low cut and shoestring straps although I would love to wear like that (I look male).

I go more for "sensible" than "cute", because the only thing that makes me look cute, is a burlap sack that covers my whole body, face included.

I doubt that Mara, We all doubt ourselves. Confidence comes with time and a bit of effort. You certainly have a cute face.

Hi Lizzie,

Very Helpful Advice and True.

It is one reason why I do not use credit cards anymore.

It WAS too easy to overbuy.

By paying with cash, I need to be more selective and no go over budget.

I wish you Continued Success and Happiness on your Journey.

Hugs,

Carla

That sounds pretty accurate. I'm just glad I don't use Windows anymore, as I basically consider Windows itself a virus/malware. Backups can absolutely save you from some types of malware like ransomware. However it's ideal to just not get infected by having smart browsing habits. It's been said, and very accurately so, that the best antivirus is you - even the best antivirus isn't 100% accurate in detecting bad stuff, if you go out looking for that stuff or browse carelessly.   I guess if you don't care and/or don't have sensitive data on your PC, then that's fine I suppose. I personally care a lot - personal accounts, private messages, and even my very presence on this site aren't necessarily things I want to be public knowledge. 🤓🫠

Yes he is. Sorry it has taken so long. One sick kid and the other has needed my attention more than usually.
    • MaeBe
Sure is! Is he good with the kiddos?

Once again the Biden admin ignores Congress and issues a regulation that can be quickly changed. It would be much wiser if they worked a bill through Congress that became law.

I think that is the camera on the floor. Of course the kids aren't picking up after themselves oh well. He sure is big for only being 6 months old.

@Birdie @Adrianna Danielle    @Willow    Big news today. We're moving to WA. My wife is taking a job and I am most likely losing mine, so it's adventure time. I'm supposed to be a risk-seeker (Aries, ENTP, etc.) but this is hitting every klaxon and alarm in my brain, but it's going to make my wife and kids happy and it will be a place to make new friends as me without the 45 years of binary baggage. There are tech jobs all over Seattle, which we'll be near, and it's a decent State for trans rights (I don't know how it compares to MN, which is a refuge state). So wish us luck! This could be the best thing ever or rocky as hell, who knows!

I know the feeling. I had to replace the dishwasher, fridge, stove. The only other issues that could pop up is the washer and dryer and the microwave oh I forgot the toaster.

That's the hard part of online relationships, they really never get to see the whole you. You either have to create a persona that will carry the day until they get to see you for who you are, or be open and take the risk because it's really easy for them to disconnect because there is little to no bond.   You have to share pictures of your puppy! I am not a dog person, but I can appreciate them in jpg format! My kiddos would love to have a pet, but we're all allergic in some shape or form and my wife and I are like, "no." :D
    • Ashley0616
I'm sorry Birdie! I wished you could move to a non-stressful place.

I love shopping for cars with my imaginary budget lol. A mustang is always fun to drive! Every time I felt down or depressed I drove it and it made me happy!

      It absolutely does!

Well things have actually been really good lately. I got a dog last Friday. I forgot how expensive they are but they are worth it. Now if I can just get him potty trained that would be awesome! He only has one particular spot inside that he likes so I try to watch him carefully. He is part German Shepheard and part Lab. He is very low maintenance. The sad part is that he didn't know what to do with a treat nor did he knew how to play fetch instead my youngest was playing fetch. He is kind of getting used to toys somewhat. I'm no longer expecting a relationship because I tell them what is wrong with me because I don't want them to be surprised about anything and they always ghost me. Oh well.
