On the one hand, I see this as a positive, especially since radfems have quoted Gloria Steinem for years as justification for their trans-exclusionary stance. On the other hand, there's a wee bit more than just those 1977 writings but if she's willing to turn over a new leaf, I'm certainly no one to hold it against her.

Seeing somebody who was previously anti-trans* is good. There are a lot of older people out there who were once racists but today have changed their views. We should definitely welcome this

I remember some of her comments from the 1970s and it did us a lot of harm that is still going on with some of the born female groups. I find it good that she has had a change of heart and supports ENDA but I thought she was doing a lot of back peddling in the article.
