The other day I saw someone write that bi-sexual people were more likely to be ambidextrous than the general population. Curious, I looked it up and low and behold, there were multiple studies that said that exact thing. I am ambidextrous and (technically) bi-sexual. I am also an Androgyne, and have a great deal of difficulty choosing favourites. Among the first and simplest questions we are asked are things like “What is your favourite colour, book, movie, etc.” Such a question completely stumps me. It’s not even that they change too fast, it’s that I truly cannot pick a single one over another. I was curious if these other two traits may be related as they follow a similar theme.

So here is my completely unscientific poll to find if other Androgynes have similar traits. :)

I cannot say I am ambidextrous as such but I find it strange that when I write left handed (I am right handed) the writing is almost identical to normal. Also I can do complex things left handed if I try? - and often have to use both hands working together in complex ways.

I can understand your issues over colours, books and movies - I find issues with this as well. It often depends on the mood of the moment with me or the current situation I am in or other relative factors. I can change by the second, for instance - not only between pink or Gothy purple / black or bright red - maybe pastels - depends on my mood but at any one time whatever colour is in focus is brilliant.

Books can be classics or romance or scifi - again I could not say any one is above all at all times.

I don't really have a favourite anything really - girl, man, movie star, pop star - even relative / family member - it all depends on current thought.

I think I must be bi-sexual too - I find some men attractive, but far more females.

From the androgyne side all I can say is that many gender related issues are meaningless to me - I just either cannot understand or don't think - it does not even register. Except for matters related to physical differences only social context has any relevance.

I'm not sure it proves anything - to me it does indicate that I probably have broad taste and understanding.

It would be good to get other views

Tracy, it sounds like you might actually be cross-dominant though not truly ambidextrous. My wife, in contrast, can do almost nothing at all with her left hand. Personally, I think I might have been naturally left handed and forced to use my right when I was learning to write (this is not uncommon). I can write faster right handed, but write better left handed. I can also mirror-write with my right hand but not my left (??). I do most (but not all) other tasks left handed but can do them equally well right handed.

So far, picking favourites is the only thing we all have in common. Interesting.. but still WAY too small a sample to draw any conclusions off of!

I am right handed. Attracted to opposite assigned partners sexually, females though with masculine traits. I have not difficulty picking favorites though they constantly change.

Hope this helps.

Interesting, Alex,

I am currently reading Leonardo's Brain (See

http://www.amazon.com/Leonardos-Brain-Understanding-Vincis-Creative/dp/1491529830.) He was as everyone knows ambidextrous, able to take notes and paint simultaneously. He rarely finished a project, hence the name the Leonardo syndrome. No one knows what his sexuality was, but it may very well have been asexual, because he couldn't choose.

I couldn't answer completely accurately about bisexual. I'm about 1200 to 12 female to male, throw in a half dozen trans for spice. Does that make me pan-curious?

I think I may like to be with an intersexed bi-gender person like me, fixed in either direction or unmolested. We may have unique conflict issues; as boys we could ride motorcycles together or be fist fighting. As girls we could do each others nails, or be stealing each others clothes and makeup. Our hetero aspects may be quite happy in a vasilating gender role changing romance, or a four way brawl?

For now, I will keep my business in bed at home. I could not make both choices in you poll. Hug. JodyAnn

I may have that too, or I'm just scatterbrained? One of my closest friends was very confused and disheartened. Later he did comment "Jody, I don't understand, but you are so happy. This is the only interest that lasted more than two years for you, you seem to be sticking with this." Surprised at his observation, I could only respond " I am in this one to the end."

Funny one evening he, his girlfriend and I were sitting on their sofa talking. He and I would talk Harley Davidson and she and I would talk fashion. After about fifteen minutes they busted out laughing. I said "What?" He said we are switching on and off like a light switch! She said when you talk guy stuff with him you are male, when you talk to me you're a girl! He said your whole voice, pitch, dialect, mannerisms and posture changes. She said it can't be an act, it has to be very unconsciously, because you do it so flawlessly. Then I had to laugh at me too.

It took a long time to stop that as it would out me. I realized just how much male programming is one of my defense mechanisms. Today I am much more comfortable as female, even when I talk to men about boy stuff. Oh of course now they don't listen and want to train this little woman. Giggle, I know welcome to female! Hug.
