It's Time For Change

So, here's my timing as of right now:

# Name change: Late March-April at the latest

# Begin Testosterone: April 22nd ish

# Birth Cert Change: Early May

# Driver's License Change: Mid May

# SS Card Change: Mid-Late May

# Move Date: May 31st

I'm trying to get all this taken care of before I move to Atlanta, thus transferring jobs and all that. If I can get everything done, I should be able to start my new position as a man and bypass a lot of work problems. But this is all dependent on timing. And from all the research I've done, Georgia does not require a surgery for a gender change. As long as the letter is worded accordingly, I should be able to get by with "male testosterone levels".

This is a little heartwrenching though. It all seems like it's going to happen so fast, I wonder if it's reasonable. The timing. Angie seems to think it is. She has more faith in me than I do. X.x

It seems pretty easy to folllow that time frame, just don't get a slow start on it, you haven't left a lot of time for goofing off.

Love ya,

Sally

Let it all happen fast. It actually works best. Dragging it out only gives you lengths of time to either be depressed because you want continuity or people time to frown and question the lack of continuity.

If you are ready for things to happen, just get it all done as fast as you can. There's no need to drag it out. My stuff all happened fast too, including surgery. It feels good to have most of the big stuff out of the way.

I need to work on getting my birth certificate, social security, and passport all changed over. I have the misfortune of being born in South Carolina, perhaps the most backwards state of the union. They are not going to be nice about changing that birth certificate. Hopefully I can get SS and my passport changed over without having to deal with the almighty state of SC.

Where were you born? I don't see top surgery on your list. What state were you born in? Can you get your birth certificate changed without surgery?

Thanks everyone!!! Glad to know I'm not being unreasonable!!

@ Ainsley: I was born in Georgia. Luckily, Ga is stupid. I think most states make strict rules for trans people in order to keep people from changing genders. Ga doesn't officially require ANYTHING: surgery, name change, even testosterone. I think all you HAVE to have is a therapist's letter. I'm really lucky. Although the name change and testosterone levels HELP to convince the person at the counter (and avoid a fight), there is no strict guidelines.

I don't plan on getting top or bottom surgeries anytime soon. I'd like to get a hysterectomy ASAP as it's still somewhat unknown exactly how the uterus and testosterone work in conjunction with each other in a long-term way. Once I'm on Testosterone a year or two, I'll look into top and bottom surgery, but I want my body to really adjust so I can get the best results. That way I'll look the best and most natural, and hopefully won't give myself any more reason to hate doctors.

You are lucky. SC is perhaps the most evil of all states.

You are also lucky that you can wait for top surgery. I'd have preferred to wait, but my "top" was too ridiculous to be able to be suppressed. It had to go. My results are pretty good, but I think they'd have been better if I could have waited a year. Either way I AM GLAD TO HAVE THE EVIL CHEST TUMORS GONE!! Thank science!!!
