Hormones Without Doctors

Sally

Recommended Posts

We continue to get topics and posts from people wanting to know where to buy hormones and how much to take.

Reread the Terms and Conditions!

It is expressly forbidden and for very good reasons - it is dangerous, sometimes lethal and it is among the things that could cause lawsuits for Laura and the Administrators as well as shutting down this site!

Those seem like good enough reasons to me, but some people don't think that completely changing your body's chemistry without any supervision or testing is a bad idea.

If you are one of those please contact me directly to purchase your do it yourself SRS kit.

You don't need a doctor for hormones, just some stranger on the Internet, so why not have a good friend drop by and perform your surgeries - I'll supply diagrams, photographs all of the necessary tools and most importantly a prepaid cell phone programed for 911!

Do you get the idea - self medication is like playing Russian Roulette with an automatic!

You can't win!

Even if you manage to avoid any life threatening side effects, they do not work and even the ones that do are taken in such large quantities that they end up costing more than going to a doctor and doing it right.

I looked into all of those sights and the testimonials are amazing - these really worked for me, just look at my breasts and it was all because of (product name here).

Take a closer look, while I was reading all of that stuff and wondering if it would work I found the exact same testimonial with the same name and photographs on 3 different websites, one for pills, one for creams and the other a combination - so which one was the one that really worked ?

The odds are none of them!

Why take a Chance with your health, do it right and live a long time in the right healthy body.

Or I can sell you a do it yourself SRS kit - it will help me pay for my doctor visits and top notch surgeon.

The choice is yours, but you can't discuss it here!

I am trying to keep all of you in good health,

Sally the Sentinel

Sally is correct.

As a transsexual-with-out-a-clue - a young person - I will admit there was a BIG temptation to find and use hormones.

And there are those places you may find that will sell you... well... something! You are a needly person, desperate in so many ways. You are also very likely to be a victim.

And even if what is supplied is what it is represented to be - how do you know the correct safe useage and dosage?

Female hormones for example - in a natal young girl , say age 13 - WILL begin to transition her naturally toward womanhood. BUT - and this is a HUGE thing to consider - her natural transition will last up to age 24 to age 26. And she will have very little testosterone to combat the estrogen (all females and all males produce estrogen and testosterone, plus hundreds of other hormones - the difference is in the proportions). We need blockers? How do T-blockers work and at what dosage? Donno

So how does the mix work? Donno

Take too much of the wrong thing, you may damage your liver, weaken your heart and possibly kill yourself. And we transsexual WILL want to take too much, as that is our nature. We want to transition as fast as possible - and the natural process? Awww takes way tooooo long, we think.

My ex wife once said I used the smoke alarm as a timer when I cooked. When baking, my theory was if it takes 1 hour to cook at 250 degrees, it would take only 30 minutes to cook at 500 degrees.

That gives you the idea. OVERDOSE!

We need to get HRT - we are desperate for it usually. But we must understand we have to follow the accepted rules = (1) obtain permission to start (2) be tested as to proper dosage (3) be monitored - forever it seems - to make sure we don't have permanent collateral damage to our body.

Hummmm... NO BRAINER....it's really better to not accidently kill yourself or ruin your body, using unknown quality illegal drugs... You have to work so hard to obtain transition, you need to be alive and healthy to enjoy it.

Yes - I agree! Don't EVER self-medicate. Hormones are very risky, you are playing with fire and can ruin your health, maybe lose your life.

If you need an appendectomy are you going to grab a can opener and a couple of spoons?

If you need a filling in your tooth do you get the Black and Decker out?

Broken arm? No problem - grab the duct tape and the stapler!

Type 1 diabetic? Oh, not to worry, I can control it with my diet.

HRT? Why on earth would this be any different from the above examples?

Please, please, please don't play with your health. You are worth more than that. We all are.

The risks are just too great. What if you have an undiagnosed systemic disorder? A physical anomaly you don't know you have? An endocrine disorder? You could be pouring gasoline on a fire.

Don't light a fuse and go up in flames. And for goodness' sake don't pay attention to those cheesy ads. All they are good for is separating you from your hard earned money.

Be safe, do it right, under medical supervision and proper testing and dosaging.

Ok, I shall now get off my soapbox. :) Who's next?

That looks a lot like my soapbox.

It is my soapbox!

How did you get into my utility room?

I have an alarm!

Actually for helping people to understand the risks to HRT without a Doctor's supervision, my soapbox is available anytime.

Thank God for this thread cuz you're right Sally, I was startin to think "why is there an influx of peeps wantin to self-medicate?"

Maybe this "blast" will be a reminder of what not to do. Or maybe (sigh) its the only time some people will know this bit of whats in the forum rules. (That means read em if you haven't.)

Please Please Please. Listen Listen Listen. The posts keep on coming.

These are dangerous drugs, death and worse things can happen to you!!!.

Self medication is for fools.

Every day there are posts about drugs from kids and teenagers and young people primarily. Evan said it best. A person who has himself as a doctor has a fool for a physician.

My saying is: A person who has himself for a doctor has a mortician for a physician.

Stop ASKING for MEDICAL ADVICE on this FORUM.......Puhlease

*mouth's open...then waits*

you know, I think you all covered the bases really really well.

But yeah...I know the answer I always get back online and offline as far as self-medicating is that "it's toooo expensive"...but really, if you do things the legal route, it's a lot cheaper than buying something from a shady place where...you know what?....who knows if the pills actually are the real things...or a diluted form of it...or something along that line.

If you want the medication, get it from a real pharmacy.

But yeah, most of all, you have to have a doctor monitor you...it is a HUGE risk to your body and only a doctor can ensure your body is taking the hormones well.

You know what's ironic? That even experienced doctors don't fully know about the effects of hormonal therapy.

Apparently, in FTM case there were no long-term studies done regarding potential for cancer and other stuff..

This makes me feel a bit like a lab rat... I wonder if there're any studies regarding cancer rates in female athletes who've been on steroids . Steroids have been around for quite a while, and there should be some long term studies.. I just couldn't find any.

What puzzles me is that I never heard of doctors prescribing anti-aromatase drugs to FTM. Aren't they supposed to?

Even males who inject tetstosterone for athletic purposes use anti-aromatase to prevent it converting to estro.

I know that any legal androgenic supplements I ever taken had converted to estro in my body and gave me nasty side effects,

so I ended up always using antiaromatase. Most bodybuilding pills that rise testosterone are stacked with anti-aromatase.

So, this should prevent creation of excess estrogen from T injections... I'm puzzled I never heard about this with regard to FTM,

cause it seems to be essential.

I don't feel safe at the hands of doctors at all and anything they say is to be checked versus newest research and medical literature.

I had doctors in the past "bury" me (aka tell me I was going to die for sure) and try to impose surgeries I didn't need, female hormones, drugs, etc.

I'm a very healthy person now, after I said "no more doctors". But yes, hormones are not to be done on your own, it's dangerous as hell...

just the doctors don't know it all either, sadly.

While they don't know it all they do have the benefit of checking your blood work and can catch something going wrong long before any symptoms might show up, sometimes the symptoms show up first but either way it is best to have someone looking over this sort of thing.

Sally

Still on contentment high from Sunday.

CONTENTMENT The relentless pursuit of happiness often overshadows the more subtle yet profound emotional state of contentment. While happiness may be a fleeting high, contentment is the gentle hum of satisfaction that resonates through the soul, offering a sustainable path to life satisfaction. Oscar Wilde's poignant observation encapsulates this truth: "True contentment is not having everything, but in being satisfied with everything you have."

I've been looking forward to the legitimate medical groups coming out strongly against Cass' biased and one sided report, so I'm really glad to see the article you posted, @Davie.  Unfortunately, it won't get nearly the coverage that Cass has gotten.  She has done her dirty work.  Hopefully the pushback and investigative reports on her and her support network will result in her work being shown for what it is.  She is a fraud, and sooner or later all frauds are found out.   Carolyn Marie

CONGRATULATIONS, Jessica!!  That's really BIG! I myself did not experience a huge emotional roller coaster.  It was more like a smooth slide into emotional comfort.  The biggest effect I felt is when my Dr put me on T-blockers first.  I felt a bit 'empty' for a couple of months, but then realized it was just because the 'T-monster' was no longer running around inside of me.  Then I felt it was my new 'normal'. I feel like the estradiol was the 'frosting' on my transition affirmation.  It's been only positives.  I do cry a lot more, but it's only because I finally feel free to allow my emotions to come out.  To me it's not 'hormonal' ... it's FREEDOM!   Everybody is different but it sounds like you are under great care.  I hope you have a beautiful first year in transition on HRT (keep us updated if you can).

Yeah, whatever happened to “good morning”?  I think “hey you” can also work to address people without offense…”you” can be single or plural so that works for any gender, non binary, or any group of people, and can be pleasantly offensive or neutral.   And I am very familiar with the experience of being “ma’amed” while in boy mode, particularly on the phone by customer support people located outside north America for some reason.

I'm hoping this election cycle might finally cause 'that' party to pay a price for such nonsense.

So nice to hear things are going well for you. Support is huge and that is especially great when it comes from your SO as well as your family and son. I think being happy with one’s own life’s direction can set the stage for not only other successes but attract others who are in alignment with one’s own ideals. it sounds like you are definitely on a positive trajectory!

There is some progress being made, some positive awakening from those who understand the difference between biology and the societal roles and rules that have been created by humans to separate, restrict and control other humans. Unfortunately so many people are still set in one way of thinking about gender, whether it benefits them directly to do so or they just fail to think about things for themselves for whatever reason, and they often cite religious or other historical sources to try to back up their argument, sources which typically could be open to various interpretations.   Pushing boundaries is what makes progress and it’s what we are meant to do…but most everyone that has pushed a boundary also gets pushback. Most everyone who has disagreed with conventional thought is called a fool or worse; those who invent something get ridiculed and laughed out, then their ideas are stolen for someone else’s profit. We suffer tremendously to push boundaries but ultimately it’s what society needs to evolve.

Goodness! You sure have been busy! That's really crappy of what your oldest pulled. That part about the talking about getting asked if it's an enhancement was funny. I guess your boss is going to miss you and just has a funny way of showing it?
