I So Passed!!!!

OK, give me a sec to set this up.

My wife holds romance parties selling adult stuff for a living. This week she held one at a local restaurant in the conference room.

Ladies only.

Why? Because women will not talk about, buy or even look at adult stuff when men are around. They don't feel as free to be honest about who they are and what they like or need.

I went full time a month ago. This past Saturday I sat in that room, at the table with everyone else - flanked by two genetics - with whom I laughed and talked about products...

And they never suspected I was a genetic male. If they had, they wouldn't have been as involved and may have left.

This was also my first trip to a women's public bathroom. (the ones at work are unisex). Two trips and no one gave me a second look. Waiting staff also used the feminine without a second thought.

I still have some work to do...I want to get the eyebrows sculpted and do something (anything!) with my hair. But it's nice to know that I was accepted as my true self.

Now the makeup tip.

If you haven't already done so, switch to the power stuff. Walgreens and other stores usually have it. It's a tad more expensive ($14 for one) but it's worth it. I use a base (I go 'nude' to match my skin tone...I'm very pale) and you have to get a translucent powder to seal it in.

Ladies, it goes on in about 3 minutes.

Throw on some eye shadow (brown on the lid with blue in the crease) and eye liner and I'm done. For work I just wear the base and sealer.

3 minutes and you're done with your makeup!

Thought you could use a tip that would give you MORE time for a change.

Hi Rayne,

Congrats on becoming full time and passing!!

It feels wonderful when people can see the real you ;)

Waxing eyebrows when done properly enhances a more feminine appearence for sure!

I actually had mine done earlier today lol!

Yeah the subtle, natural looking makeup actually is often more effective than big applications to be honest.

When I apply makeup I use a little mascara, some concealer around the eyes and a brush of loose mineral powder that matches my skin tone, it actually makes quite a difference to my appearence in the sense of passing easier in public :)

Hugs!

I'll join the others in being happy for you and it's just one more testement to the fact that we CAN do this successfully!

BIG Hugg......

Congrats! This is something that I hope to be able to do one day. To just walk into a women's restroom and be ME and do MY thing without THEM looking at me or whispering, or even wondering "hmmmm....". I just want to go on about life living as a woman, but first things first.....

Your posting just really helps all of us who want to do what you did! THANKS so much...

Powder - the mineral cosmetics are expensive - bit they are so great! They go on easliy and you use a brush. They seem to last forever and are more natural.

The only thing I can add is I find to 'cheat," use the lip gloss freshners instead of lipstick. They go on in a second and give color without having to look in a mirror. Only remember the color in the tube is about half as bright when applied, so a bright red will be a light cherry when on - not a bad thing.

If my development helps in ANY way, I'm more than glad. I know how hard it is to go through this transition and the stigmas attached to us (ie, Rocky Horror or The Bird Cage) don't make it any easier.

But I'm changing the way people see us by changing the way they see me. I'm not what they expected as a woman...they expect a drag show at work and it was just the same old me - with a slightly bigger chest, of course.

They've come to realize that I'm still the same person and I hope that's changing some people's perceptions of us.

Yes, if feels GREAT to walk into a ladies room, do what I have to do and leave with no whispers or police officers waiting at the door. Having the female drivers license helps in that regard as it gives me confidence...but so has the attitude of, "This is who I am now, get use to it". I'm not pushy about it, but I'm not hiding either.

This is not uncommon.  I started out going to the therapist in androgynous clothing: from the women's department, but plausibly masculine.  What made it easier was when I started going to a trans peer support group.  Most of the people there were presenting fully feminine, so I looked out of place in my androgynous clothing.  The peer pressure made it easier to dress in skirts.   I started out changing in a gender-neutral bathroom near the meeting room.  But I soon started wearing skirts in the car to and from the meetings.   Yes, it was nerve-wracking at first, but I soon realized that no one was looking and no one cared.    You can do this.

In my last session my therapist is starting to suggest that I need to start exploring my gender identity in a more tangible way through wearing feminine clothing at least during sessions.  I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around her seeing me actually en femme.   I love and trust her, but the thought of being visibly feminine is scaring (and thrilling) me.  Is this a common thing in gender therapy?  How do I get past the fear?  More importantly, what should I wear?

I felt the urge to date and felt just like a teenager again. I have recorded my journal titled Ashley's Life From Start to Present. I was very moody and agitated and happy. I think it was my body's way of being in shock. After about two months it got better. Remember that you aren't the only one transitioning because your wife is too. Consider yourself lucky because I lost mine because of it and so have many others. Just enjoy the ride.

I'm sorry for asking so many questions about your situation. I'm in your camp and believe you should be able to be whoever you feel you need to be. I guess it the Union Shop Stewart coming out in me. I want you to be treated fairly as well as respectably. You're human, you're a client of theirs. Especially if you're paying money to be there.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Views, terminology, and aspects of how events came to be....aren't those directly related to the news item?  If not, I'm rather confused.

Second warning, this has gotten far and apart from the NEWS item that it started out with and is becoming a flat out battleground over political leanings and terminology.

Welcome to Lefty Land.... a festive theme park full of sparkles and unicorns, a perfect place except for one evil orange dragon wearing a blond wig.    I'm always amazed at the "flexibility" of definitions.  One person's f@scist seems like a centrist to others.  One person's "moderate" looks to others like the 2nd coming of Fidel Castro.  A normal marriage a century or two ago is now a criminal offense, and relationships that used to be a criminal offense are now open, normal marriages.  Pedophiles now want to be called "minor attracted persons" and teenagers are now defined as children.  A Republican in NY or CA would be a Democrat just about anywhere else.  I'm certainly no advocate for relativism, these are just observations.    What I find interesting about this Australian candidate is the attitude that he shouldn't be allowed to run for office.  Why?  Just because his views are different, or even offensive?  Who makes that determination?  Can an election really be open and fair if it is barred to candidates who are not "politically correct?"  Here in the USA, we can openly have candidates who are f@scist or any other thing they want to be, no real restrictions aside from eligibility requirements related to age, location, citizenship, and criminal record.
