I noticed people were posting poetry. While most of what I write poetry wise is very depressing, I found one that was not meant to be, so I thought I would share it. The poem is about the place I grew up. I used to go spend hours on the beach at night, just slip out of my house and bring my ipod and think about life and other things. It kept me saine for many years, and I wrote this as a sort of testimant to that, and what it felt like to be there.

Sanctuary

Strange phantoms dance across a dying horizon
usher in dawn of dusk their paling screams bring silence.
Tiny punctures spread like darts across heavens gate.

Till death you hear them calling from plastic earpieces
memories that falter fast join as one upon a lucid rainbow.
The blessed retreat for sight of which they do not understand
A gold more fit for bronze yet lingers in their wake.

Bleeding outwards it runs swift across the tide
reflections that mirror only truth.
Alone you stare unblinking
counting seconds,
and for a moment time stands still.

Just remembering a place like that can sometimes help us get through hard moments. Thanks.

Hugs,

Charlie

Sometimes, I live for those moments, Plaid Chameleon, where time stands still. I've written several poems that express this vey sentiment as well. Though they aren't beach related. :-)

Well done.

Peace.

Plaid Chameleon, the poet ( and all artists) draws water from the depths of the full spectrum of the emotional well that exists within our heart. That well, combined with the poet's experiences provide the pallette from which we paint. The greatest works are usually written from the shear intensity of our emotions; the more intense, the more inspired. This applies to joy, elation, anger, depression, etc. All aspects must be embraced. This is humanity; this is what we are.

No need to apologize for what you write. Catharsis and healing, if not simply acceptance or resignation, often comes through theses expressions. This is poetry.

Peace

I think there is some truth in this.  They intend to implement Project 2025, whether or not he spends his energies persecuting the Democrats who have been persecuting him (in his view, a debatable point) and does nothing else.   I have seen numerous accusations that the document is about "Trumpism", whatever that is, and is merely a vehicle for him to become dictator.  From what I have read so far, that is the same sort of truth as the Steele Dossier, denying the validity of a certain laptop, Schiff's non-existence evidence of collaboration and a host of other things, many directly from Biden, that are simply not true.   I will continue reading it.

      Who, precisely, are "they"?

Wife of mine pointed out that not getting a haircut for a month looks hideous - weird bald patches.  So back to super- short buzz cut.  This morning I braced, looking in the mirror.  I look like a woman trying to pass as a a guy, maybe  a small-breasted woman with enough T treatment to grow a mustache.    I would not believe me if I read what I write about me.  This is nuts.   White t-shirt: that they sell in the back of WM so you can tie-dye them or otherwise decorate them. They are thick and long lasting and slightly fitted, so that they could be a man's.  I like them.   Jeans, flip flops.   I will no longer point out these are women's.  What else would I wear?

That is all that is necessary. I did the same thing. I must have gotten something wrong.

Quite right mate! I have been letting my hair grow out again (I cut it all off when I was 18).    I'll never look this good:    But I'll aspire to look my best! ☺️

Yeah, if Trump wins, they'll just flip it again.
    • Ivy
Nope.  He is merely a tool for them to get a foot in the door.  Any other "conservative" president would be fine - on the off chance he doesn't actually run. Trump's "policies" change with his whims.  Look how he's trying to back peddle on abortion.  The only thing he stands for is himself.
