I am looking to buy a wig online. Not quite ready to go into a wig shop yet. Does anyone here know of a good website that sells good quality wigs at a reasonable price? I've checked ebay and it looks like China has flooded the market in wigs. Would like to stay in the states for my purchase. Looking at a price range no more than $40.00. It is my first wig. Thanks girls.

Hi Suzie...even if you buy it in the states it's probably made in China. If you just want a 'do' mail-order is ok...if you want to KNOW what you really look like take that add 10.00 for shipping and 30-50 more for 'wiggle room' and go shopping. You will spend a lot more than you think in shipping 'n shopping for things you don't even like and that you might think you would like but never saw how awful it was till it was there. Find a picture of somebody a GREAT style cut...with a head shape as yours...and gooooo shopping. There is no better way, you will be lucky...otherwise it will be wasting your $$$. Of course you might grow your hair a little at a time and keep it styled...THAT'S even beter :) Kelly Ann

Thanks Kelly. I do know that I look good as a blond so that is what I will be looking for. There are several wig shops in my area that cater to the transgender, I'm just going to have to take that plunge and go for it.

Go to a real wig shop - buy a wig that looks good - fits -and is in your budget. the owner or clerk (usually an owner) wants to make money - you want to spend it - a match! Tell them you are transsexual or something - and need a wig while waiting for your hair to grow out.

I AM SERIOUS! there will be no problem - I have done it before.

Suzie I'm going Thursday. The wig shop that is. Thinking of Auburn, shoulder length. Maybe we can compare our thoughts when I get back.

Really excited. The wig shop is across the street from my therapist..funny...and convenient....Mia. :P

Well, Suzie,

It looks like you got a lot of good advice.

Since I am not ready business-wise to go full time yet and my hair is already sholder length After having it cut very short in August, it should be long enough to just style it, I hope.

Love ya,

Sally

Well went to the wig shop and walked out. The women in there were cancer victims and I felt kinda bad. So grabbed a biz card and walked out. Will call and set up an appointment... :( Mia

Oh Mia! What a terrible thing. You did right not to interfer with that type of tragedy.

Try going early in the morning when they first open up and scout out the place. The shop I used was run by a Chinese lady. She was the owner and was glad to see a customer, and made several good recommendations. The appointment idea might also be very good.

While you are in there, and if it is before or after hours, (if you have the money) it would be really nice to look at all the options and perhaps select several wigs , as you would have that option. Be sure to ask about how to care for them and what accessories you might need.

Our days of rushing in somewhere and buying something quickly before attracting attention? Those days should be over. We need to have respect as human beings. Attitude, my girlfriend, is an amazing thing. I even use it in cosmetics stores now, with common sense of course, and it works like a charm.

Mia, I am sorry you left the wig shop. I think the women in there, the cancer survivors, would have appreciated your input and help in choosing their wigs. And I bet they would have enjoyed helping you find one for yourself. Things like that make a difference and human interaction like that can take everyone's mind off their difficulties. I speak as a cancer survivor myself. :)

Iri,.......

Sweetheart....................

Mia isn't here yet, but I'd just like to say that you made a very compassionate statement to her.

We sometimes feel uncomfortable in these circumstances...

I understand what you're saying Iri.......thank you.....

And its wonderful that you are a cancer survivor and not a statistic.

BIG HUGGS and Love....

Beautifully stated and congratulations on being a survivor!

I have great admiration for those who never give up, and you surely didn't or you wouldn't be here!

Sorry - my reaction is to not intrude. My wife's therapist is on chemo - just out of intensive care -having real problems now - and I am having a reaction to that I suppose - I am not really stable on that at all - perhaps interaction in the wig shop is good - I would have tried to respect the privacy of the moment. A man in a wig shop might NOT be what a woman fighting for survivial might want to face at that particular time. I am a coward with Cancer as my aunt and grandfather were Non-hodgekinson's Limphoma victims - too much baggage - and I flee - Darn, so bad of me...please forgive, Liz

Liz, Liz, Liz, there is nothing to forgive you for :)

Your response is fine and it's honest for you.

Just remember, you were not a man in a wig shop, you were a woman in a wig shop. The genetic women, I am betting, would have understood and welcomed you. Cancer can be isolating, so is being transgendered. In my head I just see all of you trying on wigs and having a good time.

I'm not sure what I'm trying to say. Be gentle. :)

Funny you should say 'Be gentle." I know it was in another context, but I was describing something the other day about being a woman now, and I said it's somewhat like being a man, but softer. 'Be gentle" is such a wonderful thought.

And thank you for undertanding, and I understand the idea of Cancer being so isolated, like people flee from you - afraid it is contageous. I was still wrong - still apologise, I don't know what I was thinking.

I'm currently on the ballot for an open US Representative seat in Portland Oregon.  Here are some of the news stories on me:   Rachel Lydia Rand on Ballotpedia: https://ballotpedia.org/Rachel_Rand#Campaign_themes KATU 2 (ABC) Know Your Candidates 2024: Rachel Lydia Rand https://www.katu.com/news/know-your-candidates/rachel-lydia-rand-d-congress-district-3 League of Women Voters Candidate Forum for US Representative https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOoS39CTEOw KOIN 6 Written Interview | top issues, what's going right https://www.koin.com/news/politics/rachel-rand-on-running-for-district-3-top-issues-whats-going-right/ League of Women Voter's Interview with Rachel Lydia Rand https://youtu.be/V5o9RKE3WVo     This is my third time running for US Rep.  Campaigning is very challenging for me because I only have two family members still alive and I've spent less than 2 weeks with them in my life and I have virtually no social network to start with and I don't belong to any social media sites.  I haven't even been able to post here and on sites like it because of rules about self-promotion.   I'm boldly saying in these videos that I want to be appointed to vice-president in the next 5 years.  My platform is about addressing climate change and everything that comes with it.  Population decline is the number one proposal I have and it is very, very scary and controversial for most people.  The way I see it is that oil is more than a fuel we burn in our cars, it's a substance we pave our roads with.  And it will run out, so at some point in the future, most of these roads are going to go away and we'll have a much harder time distributing food.  I play chromatic pennywhistle and I'm this iconic whistleblower politician saying that we will not be able to support 10 billion people at the end of the century on wind and solar power.  Even solar panels are made with oil and there isn't much difference between a wind turbine and a dam.  If we can build skyscrapers and nuclear power, then you'd think we'd be able to figure out how to make a wind turbine 100 years ago.  It's simply not as efficient.  The numbers I've crunched say that if we have one child for every two women for the next 40 years and then go back to normal replacement rate, we'll get our population down to 2 billion by 2099 which is where the world was at in 1950.  If we don't do that and stay on this current path for the projected 10 billion by 2100, then when oil runs out and climate change raises sea levels and floods coastal cities, humanity is going to be in a very uncivil situation.   I'm sorry that I'm not making a huge issue of transgender rights.  Of course I'm here to support our community.  I'd be highly visible on our national and international scene as a transwoman.  I tend to focus on engineering realities rather than these social issues.  It upsets me that people take engineering for granted.  People tend to just get in their cars and think that there will be some space age technical solution that will make it all OK.   OK, that's my rant for the day :-)  Coffee is on.  4:26am.  The ABC station is interviewing me again in a few hours and people can vote for me today.  Please consider spreading the word.  I'm only one person and it takes an incredible amount of effort to keep my political thinking and platform going.   Sincerely, Rachel Lydia Rand Jazz Musician | Software Engineer

"Exstatic" is an adjective that means feeling great rapture or delight. For example, "His wife gave birth to their first child, and he was ecstatic about it". Synonyms of "ecstatic" include rapturous, entranced, enthusiastic, and frenzied.

Good morning, everyone!!   A busy day ahead for me - need to cut the grass and then pick up the clippings. The grass grows so quickly this time of year. I cut almost 7 acres so that will take up most of my day. At least I can get some sun on my legs and arms!!   Time for another cup of coffee as I catch up here.   Enjoy this beautiful day we've been given.
    • April Marie
I started shaving my legs years ago - I started getting an occasional mild contact rash on my shins. That became my excuse to shave them for both me and my wife. Over time, the rash didn't expand...but my shaving did. Full legs....groin......chest......and finally my arms. Keeping the rash at bay was my excuse until I came out to my wife. Now I typically do a full shave on Sunday mornings. The hair is lighter but I just feel better with it gone - it helps with the dysphoria and dysmorphia. I will also typically do a chest touch-up mid week since I notice the growth more there.   I wish someone would invent a pill that would stop hair growth everywhere except on your head.
