Carolyn, thank you so much for posting this! I just read through it all, and *may* show it to my wife. We're not Catholic, but the Catholic community seems to be more accepting of trans than any Christian church I've been to up to this point.

I am pretty sure there are some Episcopalian ministries that are very accepting of transfolk. Some of our members belong to some of them and think very highly of them.

I have no idea where this nun is, but there are many 'Out' Catholics who have active roles in their church or school.

I believe the Holy Spirit manifests itself differently in different people. For me it's uncontrollable crying, be it grief or joy.

Kind of funny that you mention the mascara, and crying, because I was thinking earlier what would happen if I was trying to present as a woman in public and I completely fooled everyone, and someone whispered in my ear "I know you're a sister, but you completely pass...."? I'd cry all of my makeup off and then I wouldn't pass!

Speaking of the Holy Spirit, it's easy to spot when someone has the Holy Ghost within them, regardless of how He manifests Himself in us.

Vicky, thank you for those links. I have no idea what Episcopal is, but I'm seeking it out. One of the things that I'm drawn to are the colors within those churches. The garments, ornaments. Seems like a really welcoming environment for those seeking out God. I used to think that men should be the only ones leading churches, but now I really think that if women were the leaders of this world we'd all be a heck of a lot happier.....maybe, lol.
