Transitioning Methods?

I get the feeling the answer to this question is that everyone's method is different, but here's the question:

1. When I was younger and I wanted to be a girl, I tried forcing myself to be a woman. Basically, it kinda felt like I was trying to warp my pyschology to attain another gender. I'm now approaching 30 and living in Bangkok and what I'm wondering is, was the method I tried when I was younger incorrect and in reality transitioning is just getting in touch with yourself and identifying with the other gender?

2. I'm familar with the idea of performativity, but I haven't actually read any Judith Butler. I've never consciously mimiked a woman, but I do pick up on various different behavoirs for instance I had a co-worker who used to say "chai, chai, chai" to answer various questions and I just started doing it. Is part of transitioning having the bravery to adopt more feminite mannerisms you feel attracted to?

3. Were you sexually active with men before you transitioned? I've tried the gay thing and most dudes don't seem to bite.

You will get many different answers.

1. When I was younger and I wanted to be a girl, I tried forcing myself to be a woman. Basically, it kinda felt like I was trying to warp my pyschology to attain another gender. Yes, in reality transitioning is just getting in touch with yourself and identifying with your true gender.

2. I'm familar with the idea of performativity, but I haven't actually read any Judith Butler. I've never consciously mimiked a woman, but I do pick up on various different behavoirs for instance I had a co-worker who used to say "chai, chai, chai" to answer various questions and I just started doing it. You were taught many of the 'mannerisms' of male and corrected if you displayed any of the female, you have to re-socialize yourself as female so much like a young lady you must watch and learn to do things like other women until it all becomes natural, just like when you learned as a boy.

3. Were you sexually active with men before you transitioned? I've tried the gay thing and most dudes don't seem to bite.

Can't help here, I have never been sexually active - and they made a movie about a forty year old virgin - Ha!

Love ya,

Sally

Awesome. Yeah, that's pretty much what I expected. When I was growing up I remember people making fun of my smile etc. Anyway, thanks for the answer. I'll try and post in the intros forum this week.

When it comes to my transition I didn't know anything about it when I was a kid 'cause my parents decided to keep me sheltered from allot of things :P , I'm sure that you could tell how annoying that was when I actually started to find out about these things when I was younger & realized that these things that were new to me were common place to everyone else my age.

I didn't really feel that I needed to get in touch w/ my true gender when I realized what was going on 'cause I came to the thought that I already & "her" so I don't need to get in touch w/ her I just need to bring her out, now that I think about it some would say that, that would be getting in touch w/ her but personally I don't.

When it comes to mannerisms I am just going w/ what I have always seen as proper.

I have never been w/ a male & I never have any intention of doing so 'cause it is just something that isn't apealing to me 'cause I am a lesbian MTF simple as that, but there are straight MTF's out there, IE they have a desire to be w/ men & not other woman.

I guess if you're method actor those might work....

If you're trying to become someone you're not - it's the wrong move.

This whole journey is about becoming on the outside whom you've always been on the inside. Thus, none of us are forcing the issue.

I took to "Rayne" like a duck to water...I may have needed a bit of help with the hair and makeup, but as far as the mannerisms and other womanly traits, I had no problem.

If you want to become a woman, start by letting the one on the inside come out and then follow her.

I'm "mostly straight". Really I'm pansexual, and in theory, the genital configuration of my partner doesn't matter at all. In practice it does. I have a complex of inferiority towards cissexual women in sexual matters. No good to actually be in a relationship with one and bring it to the fore. So, I prefer cissexual men first and foremost. I'm also a virgin (in all possible ways), but I wouldn't mind having a relationship pre-op. Pre-transition is out of the question, since I've already started, and it didn't happen before. Helped that I had zero libido pre-HRT.

I felt the urge to date and felt just like a teenager again. I have recorded my journal titled Ashley's Life From Start to Present. I was very moody and agitated and happy. I think it was my body's way of being in shock. After about two months it got better. Remember that you aren't the only one transitioning because your wife is too. Consider yourself lucky because I lost mine because of it and so have many others. Just enjoy the ride.

I'm sorry for asking so many questions about your situation. I'm in your camp and believe you should be able to be whoever you feel you need to be. I guess it the Union Shop Stewart coming out in me. I want you to be treated fairly as well as respectably. You're human, you're a client of theirs. Especially if you're paying money to be there.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Views, terminology, and aspects of how events came to be....aren't those directly related to the news item?  If not, I'm rather confused.

Second warning, this has gotten far and apart from the NEWS item that it started out with and is becoming a flat out battleground over political leanings and terminology.

Welcome to Lefty Land.... a festive theme park full of sparkles and unicorns, a perfect place except for one evil orange dragon wearing a blond wig.    I'm always amazed at the "flexibility" of definitions.  One person's f@scist seems like a centrist to others.  One person's "moderate" looks to others like the 2nd coming of Fidel Castro.  A normal marriage a century or two ago is now a criminal offense, and relationships that used to be a criminal offense are now open, normal marriages.  Pedophiles now want to be called "minor attracted persons" and teenagers are now defined as children.  A Republican in NY or CA would be a Democrat just about anywhere else.  I'm certainly no advocate for relativism, these are just observations.    What I find interesting about this Australian candidate is the attitude that he shouldn't be allowed to run for office.  Why?  Just because his views are different, or even offensive?  Who makes that determination?  Can an election really be open and fair if it is barred to candidates who are not "politically correct?"  Here in the USA, we can openly have candidates who are f@scist or any other thing they want to be, no real restrictions aside from eligibility requirements related to age, location, citizenship, and criminal record.

@Birdie You certainly have more patience than I do.  I don't take it well if I get scolded.  Either I sulk or I get nippish.    We had a good Mother's Day here yesterday.  Quite an event, since 4 of my partners are mothers.  GF enjoys it a lot, because she's very (excessively?) proud of having produced her 5 kids.  Her eldest starts school this fall.  Amazing how time flies...

Reminds me of elementary school when a kid yanked my chair as I was taking a seat. I told him to "go suck an egg" and we both got sent to the principals office. I was like, "tf did I do to deserve that?"

Firstly, it's nice to hear that your other half is now open to you living as you are!   Secondly, things I have noticed, having started shots just before the New Year: Tears do come much more easily I am far more tender with my wife and I like to snuggle more I have noticed anxiety has an increased effect on me I am on a weekly injection, so when I get near my next shot I have noticed feeling a little emotionally "blah" After shots I am much more energetic and bubbly Otherwise, I wouldn't say I've been on any kind of roller coaster of emotion and I'm far from unstable. So take heart and congratulations!
