Odd that the issue of whether she was fired or not is unsettled. Makes me wonder what other details are in doubt.

It sounds like McDonalds backed down quickly but forcing her to use the men's room is still inappropriate. I'm sure that with the quick response that the manager will soon learn that that requirement is unacceptable.

This made the state news a couple of days ago and since the lawsuit is recent I don't believe she was rehired after she refused to agree to only use the men's restroom which was the primary condition of her rehire. I have been unusually busy and not seen the local news for a couple of days so don't now what the result has been

There are some amazing things that I did notice about the story on the news channel I watch from Little Rock. For the first time ever they got the pronouns correct from the beginning and there were no funny expressions or looks from the newscasters during the story. Also they presented her respectfully and in a good light. And I was pleased that this made the news. The dragging death and execution of a transwoman in the state a couple of years ago got coverage twice-a few moments announcement of the fact and short interview with the local sheriff who was clearly a redneck and wasn't too concerned and there was not a single correct pronoun in the broadcast, followed by a one line announcement several weeks later when the FBI took over the case as a hate crime. (They were stonewalled and it remains unsolved)

So to have coverage at all is an improvement-too have it be respectful and use correct pronouns is downright astonishing.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out. Arkansas is also in the spotlight over a gay teen issue with a high school pulling his profile from the yearbook ostensibly for fear he would be bullied when he is completely out and the whole school is aware of his orientation. It has been on the news here several times and almost slanted toward the teen
