This reasoning has always bothered me from the day I started having to figure out and question God on why I was the way I was. It, along with a slew of other "oppositional reasons", never takes into consideration the outliers of the given reason. If they do, they are willing to make a special case for that, but not for us.

I love discussing issues with people and learning new things, but if you said to this person, "So does that mean that infertile people can't be married because there is no reason since there will be no need for the setting since there will be no children?" Of course they would say, "well, that's different." Seen it with the whole "God made you so you shouldn't change your body." Oh yeah, do we tell deaf and blind people that? What about something non life-threatening like cleft lip?

I better stop before I get worked up by people with double standards being okay as long as it's THEIR standards that everyone agrees to.

No religious institution takes kindly to the notion of dynamic theology. I believe in a higher power who is fully capable of re-writing a description of holiness each and every day. This is highly uncomfortable to most people and takes time for them each day that they do no want to spend. A writing from the 1800's can describe a developing phenomena but cannot freeze the phenomena for hundreds of years. (Witness Galileo and Catholicism). Joseph Smith and myriads of other religious writers have written for their day, and while thinking the world is now set and known on that day, were mortals in the true sense whose time was limited. Can theologies ever be concocted that will embrace change to a large group? I doubt it, but I am mortal. "I gained the top of the mountain yesterday, but the mountain grew while I slept, and others passed me by in the night!"
