Such a dear you must be to your mother.

What a pal you must be for your dad.

A good friend you are known by the neighbors,

just stay in your shell and be sad.

Sorry, I can't be that daughter.

Sorry, I can't be your son.

Sorry, you can't see the real person,

I've always was meant to become.

I delivered newspapers when I was young and one of the ladies at a nearby nursing home, took the daily paper. She often said those first words to me. She saw me so clearly! I'll never forget her. She made me feel so special... like your message! I felt like her granddaughter!

Coming out to you.

Along the path of green we'd stride,

Thoughts and dreams, side by side,

in and out of phase we'd fall,

no secrets kept, or emotions small.

Adrift I washed upon this place,

an island void of stars, my truth,

No one to see of my real face,

away from me I stole my youth.

Your confidence despite my dread,

a layer for each fraud is shed,

you turn, and ask what must be said,

a tattoo upon my bone is read.
