A bit of a set back

Everything recently has been going great, im out to almost everyone i care about and so far all accepting and ive been to see my doctor about getting the process going who has referred me to a gender clinic. I knew the process on the NHS was a long one so today i rang the clinic to see what sort of waiting times they have. The lady on the phone said its a 2 and a half year wait!!! I thought my ears were playing tricks on me. Its upset me a bit as i reallllly dont want to wait that long just to see a councillor to tell me something i already know and even longer before i can receive hormone treatment. She said i can try other clinics to see if i can get in there earlier. Does anybody know if there are any i could contact, id consider going private depending on the costs. This feels like a major step back and has upset me a bit.

Wow. Are you sure you're in the UK and not in Canada, Lucy?

I realize that this is indeed a long wait. However, the positive side is that you are covered by a public health care system.

That wait time is in line with what I've heard from other UK members. Perhaps you can look at options for a private G.T., although I know that option is expensive. My heart goes out to you, Lucy. Waiting sucks.

Just out of curiosity, what is the cost of a private GT across the pond?

Im not too sure of the costs involved in going private, im going to do some research as there is no way i can wait that long to get hormones and stop that poisonous T coursing through my body. For the time being im going to work on changing careers and getting my own pad, once ive done that im going to be living full time as Lucy whether im on hormones or not.
