Hi! My name is Jenna, and I'm a 30 year old MTF. I've known my gender identity as far back as my very earliest memories (though I of course did not have terms and definitions for it). Now, I'm finally realizing my dreams and working on transitioning. I am about to hit a year on HRT, though I haven't started living full time yet (and I'll admit it scares me a bit).

I have a wonderful wife of 8 years, who, while straight, is supportive and wants to stay together. Aside from stumbling blocks, I honestly think transitioning and HRT has made our relationship better than ever. :)

I also have two fantastic daughters (13 & 6) with whom I've been out for years.

I can't particularly think of any other relevant introduction stuff at the moment.

Welcome to the Playground, Jenna, or more accurately, welcome to the part you can participate in. :) I'm so glad to hear that your family is supportive and with you on this journey. It is not as common a thing as I would like to see. I hope you do participate actively in our discussions, and take advantage of all we have here.

Thank you everyone for being so welcoming!

My family certainly has times where things are a bit rocky, but overall I'm extremely fortunate. And there are certain things my wife is getting an absolute kick out of. For instance, this evening she finally realized that I'm now physically weaker than her, and years of playfully torturing her quickly came back to haunt me. :poster_oops:

Hi Jenna

Hello and welcome :)

It's good that you have support at home. A stable home can make all the difference (and it is nice to feel loved :) )

I find it hard to work on a relationship as well as understanding myself but when it works it feels like life is so good!

Nice to meet you

It's a great place to express your fears, share your triumphs and ask questions.

Glad to hear about your family. It makes a huge difference.

Thank you all again! And Tracy, I wholeheartedly agree on the niceness of being loved. Normally I'm a fairly withdrawn person, but both my wife and therapist have been trying to encourage me to be more open and make connections within the community (I think HRT is helping in that respect too).

With that in mind, I figured I'd share a photo of me and my youngest daughter out on the deck earlier.

Hello Jenna

Welcome to the playground. So glad that you decided to join us. I would take it slow and ease your spouse into being accustomed to your feminine side. Souses are accepting in the beginning but reality is really difficult because you are changing to a new gender. When you go out with a straight woman, she's going to need time getting used to other people looking at you both being as a lesbian couple.

Given time, she will adapt.. Daughters, My oldest child is my daughter. She was the first person I discussed that I was going to start transitioning. She is so supportive of me. I love that your daughters are so supportive of you. I hope to see you around the forums Kathy

I do worry about that sometimes, but she is a spitfire of a woman who has no issue at all telling random people to go f*** themselves if they get hateful with us. Luckily, I've been out to her for five or so years now, so she's fairly used to it. We've only been out in public together as two women though a couple of times. I'm still at that fairly nervous about going out stage.

Although, truth be told, with the changes HRT are causing, I don't have too much time before I won't be able to really present as male anymore (after all, pass a certain level of chest development and you've left "fat guy boobs" and headed into obviously female chest territory).

Welcome to Laura's Jenna.

Glad you have joined us and you will find an amazing set of people here who are so awesome and open and willing to help where they can.

Like you, I have daughters (3 of them) and 2 sons. They've all been super supportive of me, even though my oldest son (11) tells me and the other girls to stop talking about our bodies (yes, my oldest daughter and I will be enjoying puberty together). Hahaha.

Enjoy your time here and look forward to getting to know you more.

God bless

Ashley

Hi Jenna,

You are so very fortunate to have such an understanding spouse. What a beautiful photo of you and tour daughter. I can see the happiness in your eyes and your smiles!

I wish you the best and keep us posted on your progress. I hope that someday I will have that same understanding with my wife and 2 children. They're a bit older (17 and 20). I have just began my journey (on E for 6 weeks) and already feeling the changes.

Share the love in your heart

Always,

Jilly Dee

Maybe surface tension?   I was in a political debate yesterday and it got way too focused on social stuff and I just had to steer the conversation back to how natural gas transitions to a liquid under pressure.  One of the people I was debating had a career working in that field and it was a good opportunity to expose stuff like that.  He mentioned that it isn't just pressure, it is temperature too.  So then I mentioned how the lines are running underground and asked how that played a role in it.  He came back saying that natural gas is a liquid under pressure.  I guess I didn't get a straight answer on that, but it did move my thinking one step down the road.  Perhaps I should have been more direct with him and asked him at what temperature and pressure.  Is there a chart?   I feel people would be better off if they paid more attention to the objects in their environment instead of focusing on some of the things that we hear so much of in the news.  People are pretty clueless as to how much trigonometry plays a role in so many things in our society.  Even land surveyors don't really use it anymore because programmers locked it away in a function.  Much like how cascading style sheets (CSS) is a wrapper for math.  I wonder what former president Trump thinks about all of that?  He must have some knowledge of how his buildings are constructed, right?  There certainly is a part of me that thinks he is just putting on a show about all of this.  Perhaps I'm wrong though.  All kinds of people in the world.

Hello Jennifer and welcome back.  I find New England to be a great place to live.  I have a number of acquaintances and friends in Maine and I love the state.  It seems you are doing well.     Hugs,  Jani

Oh, my "maybe this person is an egg" story is the (male presenting) piercing person and I discussed body hair removal methods, he says he doesn't want any hair except on his head, which is what I said during a couple hair removal sessions before and just after the egg cracked.

I, too, am lucky.  Here in the UK I have a great therapist, a fully supportive GP, and a psychiatrist and endo who look after me and my needs.  I found the therapist on Psychology Today.

Over the last few years of being on this site and going through medical transition, I've come to own the M->F identification.  Funny, I made a typo of M->T.  It is a curiosity if I'll ever put Gender: Female on this site.  It is my intention to be there someday.   Right now, because of career stuff and a high stress event with an electric hair clipper last fall, I'm feeling much more masculine than I would like.  I think that once I make some decent headway with my third career, I'll settle into a more feminine feeling.   I never really considered gender very much.  I certainly always used a feminine appearance as my presentation goal. I think that when I was young, I briefly had the idea of transitioning, but I convinced myself quickly that medical transition would be a bad outcome, so I put all those feelings and ideas in the closet for decades.  I'm still very apprehensive about medical transition.  I've always taken health to be a high priority for me.  I wrote a book last December about my fears of it all and my conclusion ultimately is that sometimes there is more to life than being a pillar of health.  It's important to take some chances if that is where your heart takes you.

Good morning and congratulations @MirandaBon getting your ears pierced. This opens up a new line of jewelry to buy and collect.    @KymmieLits ashamed that any employee would ever to post a sign like this.    Well Parker Von Schwinegruber not only got me up early, we enjoyed our first cup of coffee on the patio before the sun was up. Oh it was daylight but just barely. The second cup of coffee was in the recliner, and now I’m pinned here and need someone to pour my third cup.    It’s a dog’s life… Eat, play, go potty and sleep.
