I just looked them up. Maybe i'll get some but my experiences with clip ons was terrible. I always lost one so i went to the screw type and cranked until it hurt. It quickly got to a point that holes were much easier. One ouch and done. I still lose some but rarely if i wear backers.

Was gonna write my own post regarding this topic of earings but I might as well tack it on yours.

I have a collection of clip ons , Some I bought and some I got from my mom as part of the stuff she left behind after she pased .

In fact there are some pairs that I ised when I was 14 and later on when I first awakened as a wonan/girl.

Getting to the point , I had the remaining unpuerced ear pierced last night and vasatted over it endlessly and was shocked I had to wear a stud for up to two months without removing it ubtil it healed.

Determined and comitted I went thru with it and worried endlessly about giing to work and what the reaction was gonna be.

I was still extactic about it and proudly wore two studs at home for the first time in my life.

Anyway noones said a word so far and I have not detected any reactions.

I pierced my ears in September 2013. I came out to my boss and HR in March 2014. I came out to my co-workers (on an agreed upon schedule with HR) in very early August 2014. I legally transitioned and went full time on September 29th, 2014. In that entire time, no one said anything about my pierced ears. It was just another eccentricity, no different from many guys at work (some gay) who wear earrings in one or both ears.

On my 64th birthday my wife asked me what i wanted...."Please come with me to get my ears pierced". I went as Charlize into the world for the first time with her. Neither she or i died that day. It was the first day of a new life for me. I only dressed one day as a male after that. I guess i got lead by the ears into womanhood.

Let me know how the magnets work. I might like to go a bit goth and do a bunch.

I have 3 holes in each ear from my goth days.

I would imagine to some extent you could make your own magnetic earrings with craft supplies, small magnets and some hot glue?

I learned a trick at SCC so that I can now wear pierced earrings without having my ears pierced. I can't do that yet and had the same poor results with clip ons.

This works great even with big dangling earrings.

Get some surgical tape from the drug store, it is clear but reinforced with some strong fibers so while it is clear it is very strong and very sticky.

I take a pice about an inch long and split it with scissors lengthwise so I have a strip that is half the width and an inch long for each ear.

Wrap that strip around the bottom of your ear lobe. It will be virtually invisible, especially if you have hair hanging over your ears too.

Then slide the earring post through the tape at the very base of your lobe. You should be able to pinch a small piece of tape to tape with no lobe and poke it through the tape there.

Experiment with what size strips and such you need but I have found it works great and unless someone gets really in your ear to examine it, no one notices the tape job at all. I have danced and jiggled my head quite a bit and rarely have the tape come loose. Usually if it does, it does only from one side that you have to reattach versus dropping the entire earring.

I had my ears pierced fifteen years ago in 1999 (I started growing my hair long again in 1998). I have worn earrings ever since even at work, with one exception: I put my hair in a ponytail and did not wear any earrings when I worked at the Pentagon in 2007. I even wore earrings when I was deployed to Qatar in 2003-2004, but I took them out when I was teaching martial arts since we did a lot of sparring (we set up a base dojo as a hobby for our off hours, and I was one of the two primary instructors). Of course during those years, I was presenting as this fierce looking Viking guy with a beard, and mustache as well, so no one ever said anything. I love earrings, and jewelry in general, I always have. And skirts as well. Did I mention that I frequently wore a Utilikilt around Camp A'Saliya near Doha, Qatar, just so I could feel a skirt swishing against my legs. LOL. That did garner a few comments though.

Almost two weeks of no comments on the two studs in my ears and I am wondering what the big deal was about in my head.

Typical.

4 more weeks and another money drain can start in the accumulation of earings.

Seeings I have an intolerance to certain metals as I found out with my off the rack glasses.

Drugstore earings are a no fly zone.

Yeah, I am careful with metals of earrings. I also avoid the cheaper ones. I primarily have gold or gold plated earrings that were gifts from my (ex-ish) SO Angel or inherited from my mother. I never go out without a pair of earrings, or my Thorshammer pendant, and usually a gold plated necklace (once again gift from Angel or inherited) as well. Love jewelry!

Plated jewellery is typically the precious metal over a nickel undercoat and it is this nickel that can cause an allergic and/or sensitising reaction.

Nickel is also added to some gold alloys.
