I have been exploring various foundations for a while but most of the time in ignorance. For the longest time using vichy products (good) in the form of sticks and suspension liquids and then some mid priced consumer products. I have yet to denude my face with electrolysis and alot of time has been spent trying to hide the shadow but this weekend I accepted that the shadow ( the shadow never really went away) is not as important as the shade and type of foundation along with finesing the application.

I have talked to a hair removal service and will be working on the shadow in the new year but in the mean time my call to arms is if I am transgender be transgender and accept a few things (*like shadow for now) and work on a sane approach to my look.

Foundation is just that.... "Foundation", a basis of which to build and this week I splurged more than ever before with a 40 $ oiless product in a tube.

At first as with anything I went "OMG its not working right!" but in truth it was the right shade after all and a step in a better direction.

Last night was a debacle athough resulting in a powder nightmare.... which later was remedied.

Today however, rested and enlightened i took a new approach with a less is more concept and sparingly spotted the precious foundation and the brushed it in with just a little more on the problem areas.

Anyway appliying the color with powder after went well and it stayed good all tonight and didn't shine up which was a issue I was dealing with for the last couple of years.

(Another thing that gives me a more approachable look is no liner on the bottom lid of the eye. A little subtle grey powder or light brown works rhough. Different topic though)

Anyway the pricey purchase worked out great. A lot of fussing though and thinking outside of the shadow box.

As a final note I have a tube of another product that is a quarter the price and roughly the same shade but the application comparison is night and day is how the two cover the trouble areas. The high end product seems to say where it's supposed to whereas the cheaper product seems to get pushed around.

Next paycheque you will find me agonizing over the next aquizition of the suite of powders and concealers.

I use it on stage in my male singer persona so its not a guilty pleasure and thus I don't get wigged out about standing in no mans land in the cosmetic section for 20 minutes.

Used it last friday and felt good.

I'm glad a less is more strategy worked especially at that price. I've been very fortunate to have a light colored beard that doesn't leave a visible shadow. I simply need to cover the ravages of 66 years and those are bad enough.

To cover the shadow use an orange or red under your foundation over the shadow areas only. Blend this under the foundation and the shadow will be much less visible. I'm like Charlize in this aspect, so I don't have any experience with this. It's just what I've seen other transwomen say they do to hide the shadow. Hopefully somebody with more experiene will chime in soon.

Thank you and I tried the lo priced product again and it did okay but the mineral based was still needed in certain areas. It is better plus has a distinctly diff smell. More minerals.

The think I like is it has pink in it for for those with punk toned skin and can be opaque with a very thin layer.

Regarding cover of shadow and tones what I have f gave found is darker shades of foundation highlight the shadow way more but a light foundation with a darker shade powder does not and at this moment I am finding that the best look.

Ie foundation that matches your skin tone get the colour with the powder ( usually two shades )

Too much if either and you get the eccentric lady look.

Shear as possible is best and brush of excess.

Made an advance in the foundation battle with my shadow.

posted the results in the gallery and they are the first unretouched photos re shadow I have put up.

It was a powder issue and the powder was actually bringing out the shadow more so this night I used only foundation on the lower part (very light dusting of my lightest pressed matte powder) with a blush and a darker powder color on the uppers.

The right shade of gloss helped as well in the photos

I am feeling better now and look forward to feb when I am comencing on the hair removal path.
