Worry about passing.... that was once my main concern as i went into the world. While in the process i felt i might never comfortably live as myself without thinking about it. Time, experience and self acceptance have changed that. Today a different problem seems worthy of discussion.

I am sitting at the dealership getting my car serviced. As i went to the coffee machine it broke. Ugh. I waited as a tech fixed the machine. While hanging out i started to chat with a woman who was also waiting. In the midst of the conversation i mentioned that my spouse has MS. Immediately she mentioned how it must be hard to have a handicapped husband.

As i sit here with my coffee i can reflect on the fact that my biggest problem now may be admitting that my spouse is female. It isn't necessary for me to come out as lesbian but i do feel a bit guilty when i have to skirt around the topic in conversation. This has given me a greater understanding of the difficulty that the GLB community has. It never seemed like much as i faced transition but my understanding of that difficulty has grown. Something new to work on. This is definitely a process.

Hugs,

Charlize

In my opinion :

I can see your issue there Charlize. At times I would have similar, but I do think that however confident we are in life whoever we are there are always things that would embarrass us or bring us crashing down to earth in an instant.

That is nothing to do with being trans or anything else - just the way things work! With everyone the details would be different but the trauma essentially the same. Little things to make life interesting :)

That's a very interesting thought. Many of my friends are homosexual/bisexual and I do see them sometimes stumped in what was supposed to be idle chit-chat. It's just something we get better at over time, I guess.
