Transphobic parents in the spotlight.... Human nature can be very dark indeed, obviously the representative here does voice a "will of the (small minded) people". A better law would be that any incident of discrimination or bulling of a transgender student would be punishable to the parents of the offending child to the tune of ... say $2,500.00 per incident.

I was willing to suspend judgement until I had a chance to review the proposed law. Now that I've read it, there is little or nothing I can agree with. Schools can and do design appropriate privacy protections for the use of changing facilities and showers. I doubt there are any trans kids who want to change in front of others. There is no reason for requiring a law to regulate restroom usage; there are numerous school districts who permit trans kids to use the appropriate restroom, with (as far as I know) not a single instance of an abuse of that right. Nor is a restroom a place for disrobing and violating anyone's privacy.

The law's unstated rationale is that trans kids are dangerous to other children, desire to look at the bodies of other children, or to show off their own bodies, and that non-trans kids need to be "protected." It is bias and bigotry, intended to be enshrined into state law. I hope it fails.

What a "bleep"ing ._____ that guy is! Just yesterday at work when I was in the crowded ladies room at Rutherford Ranch Winery waiting for my turn, I was thinking to myself "sure it is a disadvantage having to wait for a stall, but at least I am not forced to use the mens room where I would really feel uncomfortable now". Yeah, I am so very glad that I live in California, and I really hope Kentucky doesn't keep voting for this guy. Wow, is his bill out of step with the 21st century. I thought we were moving away from discrimination in legislation, I guess I was wrong, and too optimistic. Well, I had already crossed Kentucky off my states to re-visit, and this reinforces it. I am so sorry for folks who have to live there, and I hope that guy's bill fails miserably.

There are still some areas of the country that do not look favorably on Trans-issues at all. I'm not all that surprised to hear about this out of that area of the country.
