Lawmaker Wants To Pay Students $2,500 If They See A Transgender Person In The ‘Wrong’ Bathroom

Transphobic parents in the spotlight.... Human nature can be very dark indeed, obviously the representative here does voice a "will of the (small minded) people". A better law would be that any incident of discrimination or bulling of a transgender student would be punishable to the parents of the offending child to the tune of ... say $2,500.00 per incident.

He needs to dye and trim that little mustache on his upper lip. Hopefully there are those who will stand up for rational thought in the Kentucky Government.

I was willing to suspend judgement until I had a chance to review the proposed law. Now that I've read it, there is little or nothing I can agree with. Schools can and do design appropriate privacy protections for the use of changing facilities and showers. I doubt there are any trans kids who want to change in front of others. There is no reason for requiring a law to regulate restroom usage; there are numerous school districts who permit trans kids to use the appropriate restroom, with (as far as I know) not a single instance of an abuse of that right. Nor is a restroom a place for disrobing and violating anyone's privacy.

The law's unstated rationale is that trans kids are dangerous to other children, desire to look at the bodies of other children, or to show off their own bodies, and that non-trans kids need to be "protected." It is bias and bigotry, intended to be enshrined into state law. I hope it fails.

What a "bleep"ing ._____ that guy is! :banghead: Just yesterday at work when I was in the crowded ladies room at Rutherford Ranch Winery waiting for my turn, I was thinking to myself "sure it is a disadvantage having to wait for a stall, but at least I am not forced to use the mens room where I would really feel uncomfortable now". Yeah, I am so very glad that I live in California, and I really hope Kentucky doesn't keep voting for this guy. Wow, is his bill out of step with the 21st century. I thought we were moving away from discrimination in legislation, I guess I was wrong, and too optimistic. Well, I had already crossed Kentucky off my states to re-visit, and this reinforces it. I am so sorry for folks who have to live there, and I hope that guy's bill fails miserably.

Stephanie

This could be an ingenious method of getting revenge :)

Bonkers Bathroom Bounty Bill. Blech.

“Dear readers, I can actually see an upside to this policy. For example, one could get together 20 female students to “see” a transgender girl student in their locker room, then pool their $50,000 of winnings and donate them to a good cause transgender cause. And when they get tired of that, they could start building up some college funds, or even donate the legal largess to Mr. Embry’s political opponent in the next election.”

Carla

There are still some areas of the country that do not look favorably on Trans-issues at all. I'm not all that surprised to hear about this out of that area of the country.

Welcome aboard, @The Lake. One thing you can be confident in is that this forum is a safe place to share your thoughts. Have a good look around and chime in as you see fit.

Thank you! So do I! Although I'm proud of what it portrays, I don't wear it often because I think it could be taken as being a bit provocative. One part of me says look at me, I'm proud to be on the rainbow and the other part says pull your head in, you're asking for trouble.   I do have a more subtle pride t-shirt that I visibly wear more often, here is a representation of it: "Moon phase rainbow" V-Neck T-Shirt by secretmagic | Redbubble

Emotional stability is a personality trait that describes how calm, collected, and emotionally consistent someone is. It's the opposite of neuroticism, which is a personality trait that describes how much negative affect, emotional volatility, and mood fluctuation a person displays.

I'm lucky. I have both. For therapists, the Psychology Today is a good source, as is the resource section here at TP.  BOTH are soi vital.

Hello @The Lake, Welcome to our forum. I’m intrigued by your introduction and would enjoy reading more about your backstory. We all have very unique journeys and yours is not one I have come across often. As you become more comfortable with our community, maybe you could share more aout how your gender identity evolved, what difficulties you confronted and endured and what some of your successes were along the way. Also, do you see yourself involved in a future transition of roles, presentation, social, physical, or something else entirely? There is never any pressure to share a thing here. So feel free to share as little or as much as you like. We are a very open-minded nonjudgmental group who enjoy learning new things from our members.   Warmest Regards, Susan R🌷

Welcome @gizgizgizzie, It’s nice to have you in the fold. We are a very diverse group so you’ll fit in just fine. Right now, society at large is getting bombarded with misinformation, bait and switch tactics, propaganda and lies so it’s no wonder no one can get it right. I don’t come out and explain things about my gender identity as much these days but when I do it’s amazing how little these people know about our transgender community in 2024.   Thanks for sharing a little about yourself. I hope to learn more about you as you become more acclimated and active within our forum.   Warmest Regards, Susan R🌷
