Community of Christ as an alternative

I'm not affliliated with the CoC (formerly the Reorganized LDS Church, aka "reorganites") and after researching it, I decided it wasn't the best thing for my family (no kids attending locally, no people my age in the local congregation). But, I think it right to share some things to give others hope.

Much of what I was told growing up about the "reorganites" (the second-largest LDS splinter group) was false. They didn't give up the Book of Mormon to gain the favor of other Christian churches. They haven't disavowed the First Vision or Joseph Smith. The biggest difference is that they don't require literal belief and are much less authoritarian and dogmatic than the LDS church. They are very LGBT friendly and don't punish people for being gay or trans.

Like I said, it doesn't really fit my needs, but if you're facing leaving the church and need a spiritual alternative, you should check them out and consider it.
