I had seen this and actually received a plea for financial support. It seems she is using social media to raise funds. It would be lovely to see her succeed.

Hoyer has been in the House from Maryland since when I lived there, more than 26 years ago. He is a "Wall Street" Democrat. He's very progressive on social issues but very weak and cozy with big financial interests on Wall Street. In my mind, he is preferable to the Republican alternatives I've seen run against him over the years, but a true progressive would be a welcome and positive change (from my perspective). I'm sure other people have other opinions.

Yeah, being outspoken about religion isn't going to help, even though she is speaking the truth.

To see Kristin Beck in Congress would be oh so cool!

She's discussing the 800 pound gorilla in the middle of the room - religious fundamentalism. Everyone seems to want to play hands off with that, even allowing what would otherwise pass muster as felony child abuse to go unchecked if for "religious reasons".

Eventually, as a society, we will either face the fundamentalist aberration in our midst or be consumed by it, like other societies have been.

But until then, today in the here and now, alienating the 800 pound gorilla will just invoke its rage even more.
