To all Trans-Girls in Northern California

While surfing for a brick & Mortar store in my California Bay Area, I found Carla's Boutique, which specializes in transgirl products (shoes, wigs, services and such). My wife and I visited the San Jose boutique and found it to be a quaint little shop that actually has a large variety and inventory of various high-quality girly products. I was specifically looking for a pair of heels as my size is very difficult to find in typical stores (around women's size 12). This was the first time that I had publicly tried on women's shoes and I was quite nervous and very self-conscious to remove my shoes and show my pink toenails. The owner, Aejaie is quite friendly and put me at ease very quickly while patiently helping me try on several pairs of shoes.

The owner is a wonderful transwoman that fully understand all the trans issues and has been active in the trans community for decades.

Oh Fiona- Sounds wonderful to find a shop with a transwoman as the owner. I got my first new pair of good flats a week ago! I could not believe the feeling they gave me. My wife and I went out saturday and I had to wear them. A first for me as I do not dress in public yet. but the shoes had to be felt in public! Only my wife commented on them. Have fun Eden

I know the liberating feeling of bringing your femininity out in public. I fully underdress and wear breast enhancers that can't be missed. In the beginning, I was nervous that someone would notice, now, I don't care. I want to be me.

I am past needing this since I am full time, but I do remember my early clothes shopping. I was nervous, and timid back then. It is easy for me to remember since it wasn't all that long ago. I still need a lot more wardrobe (my wardrobe budget is tiny), so if I happen to travel in the San Jose area, I will do some shopping at Carla's Boutique. I like supporting friendly establishments after all.

That is only a couple of hours away from me as I live in Modesto. Me and my wife will have to get over there soon. There are no shops here that I know of and I would really like to go shopping without people giving me strange looks. Although it is getting easier each time I do go shopping.

Lynnette, I did quite a bit of searching and didn't even find anything in San Francisco. When I was talking to the owner, Aejaie, she said that Fricso isn't actually as trans friendly as everyone thinks. I hope y8u get down there soon, I think you'll love it. It's so nice to be around people that not ony understand but support us. I look forward to hearing about your experience...
