Finally Worked up the Courage

Guest

Recommended Posts

Some of you that follow me know that a few weeks ago my wife became OK with my shaving my under-arms, but the facial hair was a stumbling point for her. Last Friday, even though it's very difficult for her, she actually shaved my face. That weekend we did my make-up and wig and the hole nine yards. She decided to do a small photo shoot and has been 'riding me' to post these on the site.

I want to thank the kind and supportive people here in the playground for helping me and special thanks to the admin that 'talked me off the ledge' last year.

I'v finally worked up the courage to post some photos.

Thanx so much, Tracy. I had a mustache and goatee and it kind of detracted from the female persona. LOL

Yeah, I've wanted to post photos for a while but I certainly couldn't post with facial hair. For the first time I feel pretty, and mostly complete, but definitely content.

Thanx Carla and Tracy. Yeah, that wig is gorgeous and only around $160. Feels pretty darn realistic and my wife loves it on me, so that's a bonus. So much nicer than the wig i bought online...

Wow look at that pretty girl! I wonder if she uses Vaniqua or the generic equivalent Efflora to tame a Beard to very slowly growing girl peach fuzz? I guess only she and her dermatologist knows for sure. Giggle. "Who said that???" Shhh... JodyAnn

Thank you sweetie. No, I've never heard of that. I just looked it up and it appears to be a drug to slow facial hair growth? Is that true? Once you stop using it, odes growth revert back or is this permanent? I doubt my wife would be OK with that at this point. She's still working on processing this whole thing.

But thank you again, appreciated SOOOO much, everyone. :)

I went to my dermatologist and was given a Vaniqua prescription after going over the drug information thoroughly. In glee I raced to the pharmacy to find it is considered a vanity drug not cover under insurance. A pricy $135 a tube. I was as crestfallen as I was broke. So no personal experience.

After I researched for a generic, I found Efflora at about 60% cheaper. It has to be applied twice a day and in about a month clear results can be expected. After two months the face can be waxed once or twice a month having powdered the face first to keep from hurting the skin. I'm game!

The cost of Efflora versed $10,000 for electro works out to about thirty years. So it seems cost effective. Yes without it my beard will revert, but in my 80s, if I grow a full beard I can supplement my retirement from income as a bearded lady in a circus. I only have to sit in a tent and sign autographs. Giggle.

More seriously, I am thinking of trying it a while until I can afford electro which is a little farther down on my bucket list.

Which is more of my pretzel logic. Also like me, I'm comparable to green olives, either loved or hated, yet so flavorful! Your tastes may vary. Hug. JodyAnn

I love that little grin of happyness I too know that grin well. I've only shaved three times in my life! My wife loves my beard and is having a hard time letting go of it.

You look great. Eden

Fiona, I just wanted to say that you look very nice and your eyes are very expressive. Is that a dress your wearing? It's wonderful that your wife is so supportive. The black and white photo is a very thoughtful feminine pose.

Love it!

Fiona, you look absolutely fantastic.

I too can't imagine facial hair.

Like me, I used to have a walrus mustache , and bald head.....great way to keep myself in denial.

Well now I'm going to do everything in my power to get rid of face, arm, chest and tummy hair forever.

So I have to tell you you look great.

I think you look marvelous. My wife had a bit of a hard time when my beard finally went. Little did she know why.

Thanks everyone, I so very much appreciate the kind words. And my wife, the makeup artist, hair dresser and fashion designer and photographer also appreciates your support. :)

Hi Fiona..... I'm so glad you posted your pics

I was talking with my Wife about hair color and my blue eyes the other day, also my choice of cloths. I'm still kinda sorting out what I like and what makes me feel put together. Nice when you can have someone to help and encourage you to try out different looks.

I like pic#2 you look very sensitive and caring and the black n white is a nice touch!

Pic#1 The Blue blouse really shows off your eyes, Very nice!

You said "She actually shaved my face" Gave me a Smile! She must love you a hole bunch :)

I've enjoyed reading your post's since I joined Laura's Playground.

Hair color, kinda complex in that not only is eye color important, but also skin tone. When I tried on the lighter color dirty blonde wigs, they really didn't look very good. It was really nice to have a trans boutique nearby that carries a large variety of wigs. She has a barber chair and a large mirror and simply starts trying on different colors and styles.

Thanx again everyone, I'm happy to receive such positive feedback...

Having just gotten my ears pierced around January, and it has taken awhile for them to finally not give me such a hard time putting different earrings in, and sleeping with the studs in every night.

I think there are a lot more choices for earrings once you suffer through the pain and suffering LOL!

But once through it the fun begins :)

Actually, my ears have been pierced for almost 35 years. :)

Thanks, Hun...

After decades, my right ear became very infected so I had to remove the right ear ring, eve the ring I wear daily. Once fully healed I fear that I'll have to start all over :(

My left ear is pierced twice, my right ear once. I will likely get the right ear pierced a second time. :)

I hope our members from the Mid-South are doing OK today.  A lot of places had a real disaster overnight.  Tornadoes dropped all over, through Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, and Tennessee.  Lots of damage, and many people missing.  Pray for those involved, and that there won't be another wave of it tonight.   My county was spared almost all of it, but a neighboring county was hit hard.  Our Defense personnel were mobilized this morning to assist with access control, because all their local LEOs are needed for search and rescue.  No idea of how many are injured and missing, but there have been several deaths.  We may not know for weeks.  Rural areas here have a lot of shacks and trailer houses, and most people were asleep because it hit at the worst time - early morning on a Sunday during a holiday weekend.  Tornado hit a retirement home, and lots of elderly folks were hurt bad.  There was no forecast for this, and little if any warning.      Electrical outage is widespread, and it has been followed by a really hot, humid day.  Heat index is around 115 - it's killer heat.  I went out with my husband this morning, since everybody with a CDL was needed for a convoy.  I'm back home now, since I only got a couple of hours of sleep last night.  He'll probably be there overnight, and GF is there also helping with mechanical issues.  They've converted a big Baptist church into a community shelter for people who have lost their homes, and set up a generator and AC.  I'll probably go back tomorrow to help some more, as they're working on setting up a kitchen...nobody wants to eat MRE's forever.    They're getting no help from the state at all yet.  Governor didn't bother to declare an emergency until this afternoon!   The National Guard hasn't been activated either.  If it wasn't for Defense personnel, there'd be gawkers and looters. Its ridiculous, like only the cities matter.  Two rural towns literally no longer exist - its like a bulldozer a half-mile wide went through.  I've seen tornado damage before, but this is the worst.  Its just heartbreaking to look at it.

You are absolutely experiencing the same thing many, if not most, of us have faced...and still face.    The best thing I did was to find a therapist skilled in gender issues. She's been a life saver (and we work entirely on-line). And, for me, it also has made sense to move ahead slowly and in synch with my wife.    Just know that you have people here willing to listen and help, as you need it.

A decided exception to the concept of Free Speech, this one shows the consequences of taking the concept off the rails.

Idaho drag performer awarded $1.1m in defamation case against far-right blogger. A blogger, Summer Bushnell, falsely claimed Eric Posey exposed himself to a crowd, including children. The Kootenai county district court jury unanimously found that Summer Bushnell defamed Eric Posey, a resident of Post Falls, Idaho, when she posted a doctored video of his performance that included a blurred spot that she claimed covered his “fully exposed genitals”, the Coeur D’Alene Press reported. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/article/2024/may/26/idaho-drag-performer-defamation-case-far-right-blogger

April, Thank you for the shout out. It is difficult. Sometimes I wish I was just like everyone else (whatever that is). I haven't figured out how to present it to the kids (not sure I'm ready, or want to). I'd imagine  everyone on this forum has felt this at one time or another.

Thanks, I may start a separate thread for the hobbies etc.  My wife and I have also been creating a recipe book we are both quite proud of.

Thank You, I tried to balance the rooms decor with equal feminine, artsy, and a bit of 90's grunge/alternative influence.  Unfortunately, the camera I used didn't show the drawings well. I may decide to make a separate thread for the drawings/arts/crafts.   Hugs

@Amy Powell your aesthetic reminds me of Anna Sui. Kinda art deco meets romantic meets Bohemian meets rock n roll.   Fashion images: https://www.google.com/search?q=anna+sui+fashion&client=ms-android-google&sca_esv=87940c84487c33f0&sca_upv=1&udm=2&biw=412&bih=790&sxsrf=ADLYWIIV5j67lhM8fvT9dj5QsjqC4t8JAw%3A1716744540336&ei=XHFTZs-SFKiQwbkPyvS6kAQ&oq=anna+sui+fash&gs_lp=EhNtb2JpbGUtZ3dzLXdpei1zZXJwIg1hbm5hIHN1aSBmYXNoKgIIADIFEAAYgAQyBRAAGIAEMgUQABiABDIHEAAYgAQYGDIHEAAYgAQYGEjWKlDuCliMJHACeACQAQGYAaUBoAHhD6oBBDEyLje4AQHIAQD4AQGYAgigAqkGwgIEECMYJ5gDAIgGAZIHAzQuNKAHsVA&sclient=mobile-gws-wiz-serp
