Why Do You Girls Always Have A Cartoon Or Painting As Your Avatar?

Well - it started as a privacy thing - I didn't trust internet sites. But I found an avatar that seemed to be what I am, and used it. I now have photos of me up in profie and a gallery that shows me as I look, a sort of progress thing as I transition. It's available to memebers if they want to look.

I KEPT my avatar because it is now a sort of trade mark. If I went to a real photo I would feel I have lost something, as I am so accustomed to scrolling down to my avatar when checking replies.

That's just me.

Lizzy

Here is what I would probably use instead of my avatar

well..i've kind of noticed that too...but i mean, i wasn't sure myself about putting up a pic of me, cuz i still look so fem.

but, whatever, to each his or her own i guess..

for me, there are many reasons.

1. i'm computer illiterate. i couldnt even begin to figure out how to take a pic, put it on the computer, or put it on my profile.

2. privacy. i trust the people on this site, but since anyone can look, i feel its better to play it safe for now until i actually look something like a girl.

3. Namine is my hero :D she represents me better than any picture could. so even if the above were changed, i still wouldnt change it for this reason alone. Namine is who i am.

Kia Ora Skyy,

I'm in the same boat, it took me hours to try and understand how it all works and even now I'm struggling with it...I put it down to luck[plus a little help from Zabrak-the 'computer nerd'] ;)

As for my avatar, it is an android known as Kos-Mos three seconds after activation for the first time from the game Xenosaga.....i choosen this beccause Kos-Mos was built containing the soul of mary magdalen(the crazy religiouse thing they say was jesus's mother i think) and i have always wished to have my brain and soul imprinted/transfered to a female android body not only cause of the complex of living forever but also for being female......which reminds me does anyone have a cool picture of the major from ghost in the shel?

since i was little around the age of 5 i have thought of many ways of living forever....never liked the thought of death and it is because of this fear i keep myself away from people ^.^;; people do not see it right for a child of age 5 to have a phobea of death......but they see it normal to have a phobia of the boogyman even though its a fantasy and death is a reality...hmmm i guess that would mean people want their kids to keep away from fantasy and accept reality at a younger age.....while for example i keep away from reality and accept fantasy at a younger age.........bah ohwell too complex ffor talking about avatars

I love the game Xenogears :P though I never tried Xenosaga. I heard they were somehow related to each other??

For me, the reason would be like the other 100 or more girls on this site, Shinobu (from LoveHina) represents me almost perfectly ^_^

Hi MrAwesom, i originally had a picture of me, then tried to update it to a full size shot but it was always too small so i put a picture of the kitties up, still having trouble with the size so i re posted my original picture. If someone i know comes to this site and sees me so what it only means they are probably trans too.

For me it is two things, 1: I don't have a digital camera yet so I can't take a pic of myself & then import it, 2: I love cats.

^.^ xenosaga is supposed to be before xenogears, either before or after the xenogears saga......either way kosmos is cool ^.^ but i have T-elos as my vehicles LP cause T-elos represents marys body while Kos-mos represents her body/soul also rukia is my fav character from bleach.....i try to make funny cute drawings like she does almost all the time and i always get bashed on them lol

Funny.

I just posted my drawn avatar and my RL personal photo, before I read this thread :)

I feel that my avatar is an idealized image of an aspect of my personality. One that I can change with my moods. I also tried to find one that actually looked like an idealized version of me physically as well.

Then I posted a nice face-shot of my actual self in my personal photo section so people could see my face.

I sort of forced myself to do that.

My friends tell me I have nothing to complain about, but I feel my face is far too masculine and I have not yet fully come to terms with my appearance as a woman, and cannot wait to get FFS, but I am trying to work through it, so I put it out there. My friends are shamelessly biased and so I have been looking to get a broader exposure.

I can't even figure out how to put any avatar. I'm hopeless with computers. Security is another issue. I'm not out at me job as of yet.

I'm the Very Hungry Caterpillar. I think this tells the average virtual passerby a great deal about me. It also ties in with this whole theme of creation I have going with my user name and lifestyle. I need not leave my face out in the open for all to see whether they choose to or not - if one wants to know what I look like, one may make the minimal effort to click on a name, and thus do so. Besides, then I get to see who's looking at me, and take some vain satisfaction in seeing that, on a given day, someone has bothered to.

Well I think your current avatar is super cute. :)

Lizzie - your avatar photo is a super trademark - always stop when scrolling and I see it! Please don't change - well you know what I mean - the avatar.

Thanks - I say who she is in my profile.

The reason I don't have my pic is beacause, I havn't started transitioning left, and whenever I see my avatar it makes me feel & think "thats going to be me someday" and I get a nice, hope giving feeling inside.

Thank you, there's this one old lady were my mom works that gets all worked up and talks about how she used to be a stripper and grabs people's butt's, and today for Easter I went up there and took my shirt off and swung it over my head shaking my butt XD my binder made it so no one even knew I was trans, my mom told her co-workers when they were like "Were's your daughter I thought you had a girl?" But she didn't say it in front of anyone else. ^_^ hehe

This was the first site I felt safe enough to ever post any pictures of myself on. Now I'm caring less and less about who see me, but for me it was a security issue in the beginning.

OMG you're MTF? O.o How far are you in transitioning? MTFs always seem to look more attractive that Genetic Girls -_-

before my transition, I felt anime characters were a better face to my name. I didn't want people to associate me with my real life face. I imagine some people who are pre E or pre T feel the same. Just a hunch though.

Actually I haven't even started T yet, and I never hid what I look like. I get told I look like a 12 year old boy so what? XD fits my personality.

Hello @The Lake, Welcome to our forum. I’m intrigued by your introduction and would enjoy reading more about your backstory. We all have very unique journeys and yours is not one I have come across often. As you become more comfortable with our community, maybe you could share more aout how your gender identity evolved, what difficulties you confronted and endured and what some of your successes were along the way. Also, do you see yourself involved in a future transition of roles, presentation, social, physical, or something else entirely? There is never any pressure to share a thing here. So feel free to share as little or as much as you like. We are a very open-minded nonjudgmental group who enjoy learning new things from our members.   Warmest Regards, Susan R🌷

Welcome @gizgizgizzie, It’s nice to have you in the fold. We are a very diverse group so you’ll fit in just fine. Right now, society at large is getting bombarded with misinformation, bait and switch tactics, propaganda and lies so it’s no wonder no one can get it right. I don’t come out and explain things about my gender identity as much these days but when I do it’s amazing how little these people know about our transgender community in 2024.   Thanks for sharing a little about yourself. I hope to learn more about you as you become more acclimated and active within our forum.   Warmest Regards, Susan R🌷

Speaking of hair days…for me, hair has always been the part of my presentation that had the most impact on my overall view of myself. It was much worse for me earlier in my transition. I enjoy experimenting with new hair styles so once in a while, I’ll end up completely redoing my hair because it somehow reminded me of my old self. Self image is a strange yet powerful thing and it take a lot of time and effort to change it.

I am working on a solo music project and I decided a few years ago I wanted to do female lead vocals. I’ve played instrumental music most of my life and sung as a male, mostly backup and harmony though, but very little lead. I never liked my male voice. People always clocked me as female on the phone so I’ve always had a more feminine voice. A little over two years ago I started training my female voice to sing and it has been a lot of fun, though I’m still not where I want to be. Consistency is my biggest challenge.    I try to make practice fun or I don’t stick with it. So I do a lot of singing along with my favorite cover songs…I use a vocal fader, and practice with a microphone, and often just record the blend with my phone to evaluate where I’m at and see what I need to work on. If possible I find karaoke mixes on YouTube where the lead vocal is removed and sing along to that.   I’m not sure I can offer much advice, I just do a lot of listening back and adjusting my technique and practicing until I like how I sound. Just a lot of practice. It will probably take longer than you hope to get where you want to be :) High notes will be challenging but every singer has to build up the muscles and technique and breath support and stretch the vocal chords and then their range will expand. My higher notes are in tune, but often sound strained, probably because they are. Some of that is tensing up in anticipation which I need to train myself out of doing.    I think “trans voice lessons” on YouTube is one of the best channels for tips and theory. Once you’ve found your singing voice and have that relatively consistent, pretty much it’s just working on technique, styling, articulation, range, like any singer would.

I sometimes look too critically when I look in mirrors. If I’m presenting as male, I think I look too feminine. If I am presenting female then I think I look too masculine. It’s very irritating! Sometimes I think I get it down right. I guess everybody has their good and bad hair days and such, though.

https://www.hrc.org/news/reyna-hernandez-latina-trans-woman-salon-owner-and-vibrant-spirit-killed-in-washington-state   This case is unusual, in that the victim was murdered in the U.S. and her body driven all the way to Mexico, presumably to hide evidence and confuse the authorities.    May Reyna rest in peace, and her vicious killer convicted and sentenced to a very long term behind bars.   Carolyn Marie

I cooked a breaded bone-in pork chop (seared in iron skillet then into the oven) an artichoke (w/mayo) and a frozen mac n' cheese that claimed it was "The Best Mac n' Cheese" ... and it was actually pretty good.
