New hair!

So, out of the blue, 6 (count em, 6!) new hairs sprouted at my old hairline. So cute, I wanted to name each one I credit it to acceptance and less stress.

Now, even I know that at 2 square inches of bald for each new hair, that's still a little thin...but it gave me hope.

So, I've been working on it for 3 weeks. Massaging scalp with ginger oil and jojoba, biotin supplement, neem shampoo.

My 6 friends have been joined by some peach fuzz on top! I'm pretty psyched, as it gives me hope that once I start HRT in 6 weeks I might get real hair growing.

Congrats! Might need to look into this ginger oil and jajoba that you speak of. Already doing the biotin bit.

Christina,I think it may be from stress reduction, now that I'm not fighting myself. I did quit smoking a couple months ago also. Oh, maybe it's that I'm very much more protective of my skin from the sun this year. I should also thank God for another blessing!

If anyone is interested, the ginger idea came from a book on accupressure facial rejuvenation, and neem is a botanical used in the Ayurvedic tradition. Neem seems to be an Indian version of tea tree oil? It was strongly recommended to me by a natural foods pro.

I understand Laura's concept of another puberty, and am trying to deal with reality the best way possible. 52 years, on this (can't say "old" bod, and a lot of miles, some of them hard miles. Miraculous to be alive still, and I'm gonna try my best to make the most of the next half of my life. (I am an optimist, it could happen...)

So, once HRT starts, you may see me skipping around the playground.

I wish i could send you the 6 or 8 little guys that still try to inhabit my chrome dome. I wear a wig but at 67 i'm still skipping around the playground. Happy gardening.

Charlotte, I don't know! It's weird.

I like the name Raya, and am test driving it. My given name is Ray, and I'd like to keep it similar.

Tracy was used to comply with site guidelines suggesting appropriate name for desired gender, it's ok.

My problem now, is that I just heard a mother at church calling her daughter Raya, and since it is an unusual name I don't want anyone getting weirded out about me copying it- it was actually suggested to me by a different woman there. The uniqueness also invites scrutiny and questions, when often I just want to blend in.
