One full ego

Now Charlize don't let your head swell. Your wig will pop off and then where will you be? Tonight i was sitting with a group of gay folks (and one trans*) who get together each week. One of the group, a wonderful butch lesbian, was celebrating a big anniversary. Several of her friends came who had never been to our meeting before. I always get there early to help set up and make coffee. They arrived early too and we started chatting. One of the women (straight) mentioned that she ran a beauty shop and salon. She looked very well put together. We talked about all kinds of stuff and at one point she mentioned her age, 52. Well being an honest old girl i said i'm 67. The amazement was visible as she said "you are simply awesome!'. Now that makes an old gal feel so good. Later during the meting i shared a bit more about myself and my history and saw another dropping of the jaw.

I remember never thinking i could pass and also thinking that i would never look good. To be told by a pro cis woman that i do is lovely.

Now to still my beating heart and remember life is today. I'm still the kid i've always been and accepting compliments was something i could never do without needing more. I also had trouble giving them. Now simply being nice to others makes my day much brighter. If i do get a compliment i think it will always thrill. I now love to give the thrill away as well.

That i something that I've been trying to do more of lately. Give others compliments. I realized that if a compliment felt that good when I get one, I bet it's make others feel good also, when I give them a compliment. When their face lights up with a smile, is the best feeling in the world.

Compliments are one of life's true joys. That's really special Charlize !

I love to give them out too, yesterday it was to our daughter and her new doo, as she had just got back from the salon.

Hi Charlize,

I also love giving and getting compliments. Last week I was with a small group of ladies having dinner and a complete stranger (GG) came up and told us all how beautiful she thought we all were. And that isn't the first time I've received that feedback, either. I guess it means more when you've been in that place where you don't even believe you'll pass, let alone have someone say you're beautiful. Then, when it happens, it's almost magical.
