I was out with my a couple friends tonight, one of them was my best friend, and we got to talking and I found out my best friend was homophobic, and I asked him "What if you had a friend who was gay or trans or somthin?" and he said "oh you mean like you or(another one of our friends)?" I said "yeah" he said "well I'd be ok with that since u guys didn't hit on me or anything" from that little conversation do you think he would accept me or not?

There is only one way to find out Sara.If you think coming out to a friend is hard, wait until you

tell your folks and siblings. But if this is truly the path you must follow,it is something that must be done.Choose your time, think about how you are going to approach the subject, who you want to

come out to,(MOM prefferably)and build up the courage to do it.Part and pacrcel of being a tranwoman is telling the world who you truly are.

Good Luck,

Angie

I think you're on the wrong side of this, my dear. The question should not be, will your homophobic friend accept you, but can you accept having a homophobic friend. If you come out to him and he says he 'accepts' you, remember that this does not prevent him from making thoughtless remarks about gay or trans people. When you are older and exert more discretion over who you consider a friend or not, you may decide it simply is not worth it to maintain friendships with such incompatibilities in them. The choice is entirely yours.

He said he would be ok, so maybe. Why don't you try it out. If he really enjoys your friendship, he'll be okay with it, even if he has some bad remarks.

My friend is the type who would adjust to so he dosn't intentionally offend anyone unless its just joking.

And theres one little problem I forgot to mention, that I should have said, I kind of like him, like-like him, and if it was creepy I wouldnt say anything, but I thought it should be somthing I needed to mention.

Kinda confusing because he said he accepted you because you didn't hit on him and then you said he was the kind of person who wouldn't hurt any body intentionally, and you kind of like him which means what? That you like him as a friend or a romantic partner.....You better think tis through..or else you will be emotionally stranded out there and/or he will be what you want him to be which is what..your friend or boy friend please explain? Honestly w/ the sound of that I would say that he is more then likely not going to be one of your best friends for very long (speaking from personal experience in simular instances)

I would say try to be friends with him. I don't think he'll want to go out with you though. But you can always bring that up later.

hmmmm.. what a dangerous road you walk. It's one thing for somebody to "hypothetically" say they are ok with a situation.. the reality is always different.

People like this get it from somewhere.. usually their other friends and workmates who you may or may not know. I hope you have medical insurance.. because coming out to a homophobe is a sure fire way of finding out pretty quick which side your bread is buttered so to speak.

People like this are dangerous. It's not so much what they might say to your face as what they will say behind your back.. they will out you and put you in physical danger from people you don't know.

I learned this the hard way and I still have the scars. You can't put the genie back in the bottle so I would put a lot of distance between myself and this person as soon as possible.. and certainly before you consider telling people lots of stuff about yourself..

I want him to be my friend. for the most part, but i've got a crush on him, and if his friends have personal problems he isn't the type of person who would use that in a conversation if he thought it would make you feel bad.

Chances are they'll accept it. I remember before I came out people would always say they would never be friends with people who are gay or trans or whatever. As soon as everyone found out about me they just thought that I'm still the same person and things aren't really much different, apart from the 'are you gay?' questions that always come up (like they're expecting me to be gay).

Real friends will realise that you're still the same person, just a bit different. If they said they'll be OK with it then they definately will. However, do not even think about trying to hit on your friend, because it won't end well. He is not going to be interested and it's totally unfair to put him in such an awkward position.

Hey sara,

I think your friend already knows and already accepts you (or at least suspects that you are transgendered). I may be wrong but I think that you already came out to your friend wihout realizing it.

It should be an unforced thing, where you and he both feel comfortable, and you bring it up.

I will warn you though - you can NEVER predict how it will turn out.

My homophbic friend is really strong, hes in football(trying to get me to join next year) hes very active, and the first time i met his grandfather we were watching tv, and there was a gay person on some sort of show, and his grandfather started insulting that person, i asked my friend wht that was all about and he said "oh, my grandfather hates gay people" so im guessing he learned it from him

actually if I did, I would have seen some kind of facial sign, even if he suspected it but his face was normal, i dont usually talk to him about that stuff but we do once in a while, so in his eyes it was a normal conversation, I hope.

I’m posting this here because maybe it is a sign that I dislike my natal self in some ways that I hadn’t thought of before.   A situation happened yesterday which ended up giving me a good ol’ reality check. It left me feeling quite deflated. As a result, once again, I’m questioning my place on the trans rainbow spectrum. It’s not so much that I feel like an imposter, but rather, I feel like an alien.   Our oldest daughter is a single mom and her daughter, our granddaughter, is going on seven. They had a special event at her school yesterday; it was Special Person’s Day, where parents or significant others were invited to participate in some out-of-class activities in the last hour with the students. Since our daughter was working, my wife and I were glad to attend in her place and our granddaughter was thrilled to see us.   My wife isn’t disabled, but she’s not especially capable of doing physical stuff. So, it was always going to be me holding onto the tug-of-war rope with half a dozen mothers against the kids, just as it was to get in the rock/paper/scissors comp where the loser went to the back of the line and the winner had to sprint madly along the line to mee the next contestant. It was nice to be doing something amongst a group of lovely women, not that they knew that I was emulating them. There was some small talk and a bit of gentle banter with these strangers, and it felt nice; I felt included. Of course, these women were just being good humans and not actually including me as one of them. Not that I expected them to do so.   Then we went to the art room and waited outside until the previous group finished up. I became observant during this time, not ogling the ladies amongst the throng at all, but just taking in their hairstyles and clothing choices and the spontaneous, intuitive conversations between them. I started to get a sinking feeling. I was nothing like them, not just in appearance, but in womanly ways. Once inside and assisting the kids, I found it impossible to interact with any of the mothers at all. It’s as if I could see their large pink auras all intermingling, and here was I with my tiny blue (purple at best) aura tied to an anvil and unable to think of myself as anything but an outlier. I almost felt embarrassed to have long hair.   It doesn’t matter how womanly I feel inside, or what feminine mannerisms automatically happen, or how I might display myself to keep my inner woman happy – I am missing the naturality of it all. And that's what gave me the feeling of being deflated.   Just had to get this off my chest.

Good Morning!!    I hope everyone has a nice day.  I love rain but am happy to see the sun trying to peep through this morning in North Carolina.     I have been in the foothills for about a week visiting friends and family and will be heading home to the coast in a few hours.     I have to pack my car before I can enjoy my morning ☕️ then hope to have a pleasant five hour drive.     💗Cynthia

I remember this well. I used to spend two hours getting ready every time I went out! But yes, going full-time put paid to that. I still like to look good, and I totally agree about standing out vs blending in — plenty of cis women stand out and seem happy to do so, so why shouldn’t we? — but I also appreciate the comfort I feel in relatively more casual (but still feminine) clothes these days.    As to the fetish thing, ugh, you did well to put aside that concern. Billie Eilish just told Rolling Stone that she masturbates to her own reflection in a mirror; if that isn’t “love of oneself as a woman” I don’t know what is.

This post made me chuckle, because I wrote my first (intro) post here about two days ago and used the exact same phrase.    My answer would be yes. I do. There's a wide variety of thoughts going on in my brain, so I've always got something to entertain me, and if I want to, there's always the ability to pick a thought and really drill down to the deepest implications of it.    For example recently I've been thinking about 'the philosophy of mind' and really trying to dissect what it is to be a 'mind'. It's complicated and muddy, but I feel I'm actually making progress towards a fully definable position, free of obvious self-contradictions. It would be cool if I can accomplish that and maybe someday even publish works on it.   What about you? Is your inner life one you would describe as 'rich'?

@Birdie I'm glad things are looking up.   I've lost 5kg this year! Not a huge amount, but encouraging.   I accidentally skipped a shave this morning for the first time in months and I'm definitely not used to how it feels! It's like my face is covered in velcro hooks!

At its core, emotional pain is an intense feeling of distress, anguish, or suffering that stems from non-physical sources. Unlike the ache from a stubbed toe or a headache, this type of pain originates from events or circumstances that hurt us deeply on the inside.
