Hello everyone,

I'm Andi, and I'm currently in transtiton to become female, I'm pretty confident about my face and chest. My arms are compelty free of muscle and fat, and my size is only about 6. However the probelm is I weigh 165 when I should be weighing 120-130, and the reason why is my legs, they are thick and manly, they are even thicker than alot of the football players' legs at my school! This appauls me very much since I've never played a routine sport or had a routine exercise plan. I've talked to says that it's muscle and not fat mass. Which concerns me since I already know how to get rid of fat but I have no idea how to get rid of muscle. Any ideas

Thanks

Hi Andi

my name is Mia and I moved this topic to the Intro forum..since this is your first post and it is pretty specific I think you should expand on who you are so all the folks can get to know more about you..anywho welcome to the forum,,take your shoes off and relax and soon others will be around to greet you offer advice and OH yeah almost forgot..cookies(double chocolate chip) and cocoa soon it will be spring and you can have a nice glass of ice tea with home grown mint......

And let me also tell you don't worry about losing muscle mass if your legs are strong and powerful be proud think of the Williams sisters Venus and Serena I mean what girl in their right mind wouldn't want to look like that many a girl would give a million to even be close so be proud honey! and show those million dollar legs to the world baby...Welcome again....Mia

Thanks for the welcoming, but don't get me wrong, good toned legs are great but mine are just alittle too out of the feminine realm, and I'm still in the closest because of school, no that means no HRT yet. Is there any exiecise or diet that does that opposide to muscle growth?

I suppose suggesting you use a vestigial wheelchair for a while would be considered immoral.

An obvious dietary change would be to reduce your proteins. Perhaps try out vegetarianism for a while. Perhaps stay there. Be amazing.

In conclusion, welcome. I'm Lydia, and it says this in the small, dark, and often-ignored letters at the bottom of each of my posts.

Hi Andi,

Reducing the protein - not eleminating it is a good way to reduce mauscle mass and the only really healthy way - a complete lack of protein or exercise is very dangerous and the results will not all be from your legs.

My advice is to be patient and look around you, there are girls everywhere that have very large legs - not well toned but large and they can live with it - we all want to be superperfect, but for most of us we can't and here is the important part most of the natal femals can't either!

Learn to be happy with you and it won't matter, others will perceive you as you perceive yourself - if you walk down the street thinking to yourself, "I shouldn't have worn this skirt - my legs look like a man's." everyone you pass will pick up on that and wonder what is wrong and look closer to see why - that's how you get read.

If you were to walk down the street wearing a plastic purple cow on your head and you were confident because you knew that it made you look great, people would wonder why such a beautiful girl would walk around with a purple cow on her head.

Confidence trumps appearance!

By the way, welcome to the forums!

Love ya,

Sally

Hi Andi and welcome to Laura's, I'm MtF also and been on hrt, 11 months, i have the same problem but with everything, i lifted lots of weights and have big arms and legs, i only do cardio now, and very slowly losing the muscle mass, things that used to be easy to lift around the house are now harder. I like bicycle riding and doing that is helping tone my leg muscles.

Welcome to Laura's Andi, my name is Dan and I am FTM and also new here. I wish I could help you out there but my problem is just the opposite, I really need to gain more muscle mass and weight and can't seem to keep too much of the weight I do gain. But excercise will help with toning and any fat burning. Hope you enjoy yourself here. So far I am, lots of good advice.

GOOD advice - but if you are NOT able to depend on HRT, I suppose a general diet will have to suffice. The only problem is your genetic makup may predisposition you for larger legs. Look at the people in your family.

Remember, many women have larger legs.

And to be honest, my HRT has killed the muscularity in my legs but they are plumper now. No more 'bird legs' for me I guess.

Hope this helps

Welcome Andi!!

I see that you have met some really wise and helpful people already. My dear, your body is not cast in stone. It can change by your diet and the type of exercises you do. If you want slimmer legs, then light aeroic exercise with reduced protien in your diet will work. Less meat, more salads!! Never, of course compromise your health for your desired look, it is not worth it!! Be patient. Take your time. Your body will not just change overnight!! Expect to make slow changes over the course of a year or more. Additionally, learn to love your body! Many women have large legs (you should see my mom!!). As you become more comfortable with your body, and you work on your body, you will reach an equilibrium, where you are satisfied. Don't be like those poor swimsuit models that starve themselves so bad that they skip their periods because their bodies are completely out of wack.

Anyway, Welcome to Laura's Playground.

In my last session my therapist is starting to suggest that I need to start exploring my gender identity in a more tangible way through wearing feminine clothing at least during sessions.  I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around her seeing me actually en femme.   I love and trust her, but the thought of being visibly feminine is scaring (and thrilling) me.  Is this a common thing in gender therapy?  How do I get past the fear?  More importantly, what should I wear?

I felt the urge to date and felt just like a teenager again. I have recorded my journal titled Ashley's Life From Start to Present. I was very moody and agitated and happy. I think it was my body's way of being in shock. After about two months it got better. Remember that you aren't the only one transitioning because your wife is too. Consider yourself lucky because I lost mine because of it and so have many others. Just enjoy the ride.

I'm sorry for asking so many questions about your situation. I'm in your camp and believe you should be able to be whoever you feel you need to be. I guess it the Union Shop Stewart coming out in me. I want you to be treated fairly as well as respectably. You're human, you're a client of theirs. Especially if you're paying money to be there.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Views, terminology, and aspects of how events came to be....aren't those directly related to the news item?  If not, I'm rather confused.

Second warning, this has gotten far and apart from the NEWS item that it started out with and is becoming a flat out battleground over political leanings and terminology.

Welcome to Lefty Land.... a festive theme park full of sparkles and unicorns, a perfect place except for one evil orange dragon wearing a blond wig.    I'm always amazed at the "flexibility" of definitions.  One person's f@scist seems like a centrist to others.  One person's "moderate" looks to others like the 2nd coming of Fidel Castro.  A normal marriage a century or two ago is now a criminal offense, and relationships that used to be a criminal offense are now open, normal marriages.  Pedophiles now want to be called "minor attracted persons" and teenagers are now defined as children.  A Republican in NY or CA would be a Democrat just about anywhere else.  I'm certainly no advocate for relativism, these are just observations.    What I find interesting about this Australian candidate is the attitude that he shouldn't be allowed to run for office.  Why?  Just because his views are different, or even offensive?  Who makes that determination?  Can an election really be open and fair if it is barred to candidates who are not "politically correct?"  Here in the USA, we can openly have candidates who are f@scist or any other thing they want to be, no real restrictions aside from eligibility requirements related to age, location, citizenship, and criminal record.

@Birdie You certainly have more patience than I do.  I don't take it well if I get scolded.  Either I sulk or I get nippish.    We had a good Mother's Day here yesterday.  Quite an event, since 4 of my partners are mothers.  GF enjoys it a lot, because she's very (excessively?) proud of having produced her 5 kids.  Her eldest starts school this fall.  Amazing how time flies...
