Help with shoes please

I am having a really difficult time finding the correct size of women's shoes for myself. Normally I wear a size 12 in women's shoes and have always had a problem with my feet sliding in them somewhat, my last pair were mary janes so the strap helped keep my feet in place. I've recently received a pair of women's flats in a size 12 without a strap and my feet are slipping in them when I walk, today was the worst, I barely made it home without taking them off and going barefoot. Have blisters on my feet now. I've measured my feet several times and I am just next to the 12 inch mark, that is for both feet. If I were to go a half size lower that would be too tight on my feet and host of other problems. Would insoles help in this situation? I heard Foot Petals are suppose to be good. I just want to be comfortable in my shoes. I even tried putting tissue in the toe box to take up some of the room, that only made my toes hurt, OUCH!! Right now I am wearing a previous pair of flats in a size 12 that have stretched out, so I have heel pads in them that just do not work very well. Help please. I do not know if I should go down a half size or try insoles or what.

Not all shoes run true to size. Style and brand of shoes can make a really big difference. Some can run the equivalent of a size different. Many women I have known will try on several sizes in a shoe they like to be sure which fits best.

. Insoles should help the shoes that let your feet slide. there are also heel liners that will take up some of the extra room.

The width of your is another thing to consider. If you have a wide foot it's good to go one size larger. Also consider the cut of some shoes. Like Johnny said, all shoes do not run true to size. Insoles can help. I did that with a couple of pairs of my shoes and it helped.

I saw a Utube of something I want to try but haven't yet done so.

Something about wetting the shoe and packing with a bag of water. Then freeze the shoe. The water is very conforming to the inside of the shoe, when it freezes the ice expands uniformly and stretches the shoe about a half size and width.

Sounds logical, I can't verify that yet.

I know first hand women's roller skates and bowling shoes are all over the map in size. Hug. JodyAnn

Thank you for the suggestions. Unfortunately I am not able to try on shoes in the store because they do not carry a women's size 12 shoe, I have to buy them online such as Zappos, Shoebuy, even Macy's and Nordstroms Rack I have to buy them online and hope they will fit or return them. Already I am thinking of returning the ones I received for Christmas, they are a suede leather flat. I also heard that if you spray your feet with hairspray that will keep your feet from sliding in the shoe as well. Not so sure I want to have hairspray on my feet every day. I think I will go for the insoles instead.

Here in California, go to Payless Shoes' stores in some of the neighborhoods where there are a good number of African American women or Samoan women whose feet run almost male size. They have a good selection of larger sizes. The other thing you can do with Payless is order them online and have them sent to a specific store near you for try-on. Order two pairs of the same shoe so you can compare. You only pay for the shoes if you buy them that way. Also choose your styles carefully, I cannot wear any shoes with a pointed toe, I have some broken toes from my boozing days that make that style impossible to fit and really hurt.

For shoes you already have, also think of Lambs Wool such as dancers use for their toe shoes, and put it in the toe to keep the sliding to a minimum. You can add it in the amount you need for comfort and distance.

I've learned a trick of curling my toes a bit to hold the shoe as i lift my foot. I've also changed my style in direct relation to the amount of walking i'll do. Comfort is definitely more important to me now than style and as i look at other women my age i see that is more often the case than not. Flats should be comfortable but often the sides and heel are too low to support your foot. I'm more often than not in a pair of Merrill clogs.

Payless is a good source of + sized shoes as Vicky noted. African American women have big feet as well. I get my "stylish" shoes i'm not going to put many miles on there.

Charlize

When I first stated buying woman's shoe's, I bought them from Wal-Mart and K-Mart. I did this kind of like starter kit to the road of bravery. I found that putting them in the cart with so many other items made me somehow feel safe from ridicule. I did this with appearal too. I found out during this beginning process the rual Wal-Marts kept larger sizes in shoes and appearal than most city Wal-Marts. Funny thing too, I would pick older women at the check out because they came from a time where lots of men bought women's cloths for their wives and girlfriends. Smile's...Sarah

Most women's shoes are made for style not comfort and when we add a lot more weight and a much higher

center of gravity things move. No wonder you see so many women wearing sneakers. Some wear boots that

lace up or strap up with two to three inch full heels. Also, I think, the larger sizes are not

proportioned correctly as the design is for around a size 8. I have a pair of size 13 boots with 3

inch heels and the heel to arch angle is wrong to distribute the weight. I wear Italian mens boots

with 2 inch cuban heels all day long and they look the same as women's. With jeggings and leg

warmers around the top are a popular women's style. Unfortunatly there's not much in size 13 fashion.

Crossdressing shops are worth a look as they specialize in large sizes and you can try them on. They

also know where to find what you want. Also, with boots you can wear thick socks and that reduces

the foot slipping in the shoe.

You’re welcome, Vidanjali. Now I have to actually start writing!

Society is preserved by passing on proper roles for people, which works for the 90+ percent that it works for.   We were all taught from an early age that breaking out of the classification was a shameful thing, even when, actually, it is not.

I'm probably showing my age.  I haven't looked at a guest count in a long time.  Doing FB and staying off forums for a while.  Previous forum use had fewer bots if any and guests were actual people, mostly, unlike today.    Any AIs or bots struggling with GD are welcome.  I would love to read your introduction.

I've seen this on a lot of forums tbh. That's how a lot of content ends up on internet archives. You've got loads of bots scanning the site at all times and archiving it. Forums are actually nice (in comparison to social media) in that the guest count gives you a pretty good idea of how actively the site's content is being archived. Basically just don't post anything you don't want archived.

Kids are resiliant with therapy and strong support ;-)    They were all elementary age when their dad died and are teens now, and how they've grown and developed as young people, already, takes my breath away.   I'm working on communicating changes clearly and without shame, which is difficult basically all the time because of feeling guilty over doing gender "wrong" for so long. Working on that myself! <3

Allow me to add that people should think twice about posting pictures of themselves, with the facial recognition software that is out there.  Those in stealth or who are not fully out may discover they are suddenly and unwillingly fully out in ways they wish had not happened.

Funny how when i read the topic name i thought you were asking about the study of plants and animals.  I'm a bit into that as a farmer at va time when a cell phone makes plant  for insect identification easier than it has ever been.    Now on to your topic.  I don't farm in the nude.  I have wondered at whether i would skinny dip as i did as a kid without thought of how my body might affect others.  The effects of hormones makes me different from the average person and perhaps i'm "neither fish nor fowl".  I would certainly depend on who my fellow passengers on that cruise would be.   Hugs,   Charlize

This is also a relatively small forum and it can take a long time, seemingly, for someone to get around to replying to a post.

I am also pretty sure that several of them are folks who are "trans curious".  Sometimes folks who are trying to find their own identity, are attracted to trans folks or who are simply interested in the trans community.   There may also be some who wish to do us harm which is why ......... I've just learned to smile figuring "i'm on candid camera".   I'm sure many of our younger members never experienced that show so my age is showing.   Hugs,   Charlize

Most of those "guests" are web bots from China, Indonesia, France etc. looking us over. They are mostly benign.  All they can see or gain access to are the general forums.  Members should be careful not to post anything that could readily identify themselves such as real names, addresses, phone numbers, etc. They do not have access to our gallery, blogs or private messenger. They seem to haunt all forums. Not just us. I should add that they can make us known across the internet. That's how prospective members find us. Google would be a good example.

Heck I didn't even know they could go up that high! I just have a four burner and one to keep stuff warm. What kind of pies did you make?
