Came Out To My Therapsit Today

so. it had been awhile since i saw my therapist (she's not a gender therapist), and i called her up today cuz i wanted to at least start going to therapy again since i have no insurance and doubt i'll be starting T anytime soon. she just happened to have a cancellation, so i went in to see her. i'd been wanting to come out to her since i started seeing her last year, so this time i brought my lil sis with me (she's the only one i'm out to) for moral support.

it went pretty well i guess. i mean, i was really nervous, even though i knew she wasn't going to reject me or anything... but now i'm just wondering what's next. anyway, i'm seeing her next week again, so i guess we can start making a plan then.

All of this time not telling her and a year of lost opportunities - if you aren't careful you could end up like me 57 and still plodding along about to start hormones just a few months from my 58th birthday!

Coming out to your sister was a very big and important step. Even bigger, was to come out to someone not in your family! My dear, you are walking the walk!! Keep walking, step by step, you are on your way!!

Don't worry about 'T' and other considerations right now. You are expressing to others your true gender, your mind, your soul!! That is what is so important. The other technical details will follow.

I think it's because it's a huge deal to you, because it's your identity, it's who you are, it can hardly be more important to you. As close as you are to anybody else, your identity is going to matter less than other things (like their identity for example). Your identity is necessarily a big deal to you, but it's never going to be as big of a deal to someone else.
